CGC Inc. is actively seeking a Co-op Engineer to join our dynamic team at our Hagersville plant, Ontario location, conveniently located just 30 minutes from Hamilton.

Please note that there are no bus routes available, so candidates must have their own transportation.
This exciting opportunity spans from September 3, 2024 through December 20, 2024 totaling four months, with a strong possibility of an extension.

This is a salaried position that requires 100% onsite presence, offering an excellent challenge for a motivated individual to showcase their leadership skills and engineering expertise within a prominent manufacturing operation within a large corporation.
Our CGC Hagersville plant plays a vital role in mining raw gypsum and transforming it into a wide range of finished products, including wallboard and joint treatment materials. The facility encompasses a mine, a mill, production lines, maintenance, engineering, and supply chain operations. Currently, our 350-acre site employs over 300 dedicated individuals, and our workforce continues to grow. Notably, the Hagersville plant stands out as one of the few USG/CGC plants capable of both mining raw materials and manufacturing finished products all under one roof."

Job Responsibilities:

  • Consult with department managers and plant employees to identify problems and develop solutions for process and equipment improvement.
  • Responsible for managing projects from design to execution stages, in the areas of plant safety, process control, equipment changes and other continuous improvement projects.
  • Communicate with multiple contractors and project stakeholders to implement plant improvement projects
  • Utilizes technical training to design various mechanical structures and innovations as required by operating departments (includes 2D/3D AutoCAD drafting)
  • Assist in maintenance of all plant equipment and facilities so that the plant remains in good operating order, consistent with standards and government regulations.
  • Responsible for coordinating special projects as needed.


Required Skills:

  • Working towards bachelor's degree in Engineering. (Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Civil and/or Electrical)
  • Strong leadership, communication (verbal and written), decision making and employee relations skills within a diverse workforce environment.
  • Must have demonstrated abilities to operate within a planned budget and manage costs within established goals.
  • Must have a high level of organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks.
  • Knowledgeable with safety compliance programs with a strong emphasis on safety, quality and housekeeping.
  • Minimum GPA: 2.75
