Scope of the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Product Designer who will play an essential role in shaping the user experience of Recollective's platform. As an experienced professional, you will bring a fresh perspective to the table, immerse yourself in our customer's needs, and take ownership of the design process, focusing on producing user-centric designs that enhance the usability and overall experience for thousands of researchers across various industries.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Apply your expertise in UX and usability to craft high-quality experiences that enhance the daily lives of researchers.
  • Engage directly with customers to understand and empathize with their workflows, wants, and pain points.
  • Lead user interviews, validation sessions, and usability tests to ensure designs meet customer needs.
  • Utilize data for informed decision-making, working closely with product managers and engineers during discovery, definition, and implementation.
  • Collaborate across departments to gain a comprehensive understanding of the business and gather user insights from various customer-facing teams.
  • Work within and contribute to our design system, ensuring consistency and efficiency in our design processes.
  • Test solutions before release to ensure alignment with designs and specifications for a seamless user experience.
  • Mentor team members, fostering their professional growth in product design within a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.

Experience and Qualifications

  • 5+ years in product design, emphasizing user-centered design.
  • Demonstrated Product Designer experience with a robust portfolio showcasing your design process and outcomes.
  • Solid understanding of usability principles and accessibility standards.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills to convey design ideas to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with user research methodologies and a data-driven approach to design.
  • Proficient in design and prototyping tools, including Figma.
  • Enthusiastic about evolving design techniques, tools, and expectations.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field is an asset.
  • Experience with designing AI-based solutions or features is an asset.

Location

This position is open to all applicants located in Canada, although preference will be given to those located in Ottawa and those willing to work within the Eastern Time Zone.
