ABOUT THE ROLEWe are seeking a motivated and multitasked-oriented individual who is flexible and works well in a team environment to fill the Electrician position. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring safety, functionality and efficiency of residential electrical systems. Responsibilities will include the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical components, circuits, and systems in accordance with industry standards. This is a full-time permanent position based on eighty (80) hours bi-weekly, located in Fort McKay, AB.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment in residential settings.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues and perform necessary repairs or replacements.
  • Ensure compliance with all electrical codes and regulations.
  • Safely handle and install electrical components such as outlets, switches, and circuit breakers.
  • Collaborate with homeowners and team members to assess task requirements and provide accurate work scopes.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Provide excellent customer service, addressing client concerns and inquiries in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to minimize risks and hazards in the workplace.
  • Complete documentation and report accurately in a timely manner.
  • Train and mentor apprentice electricians, providing guidance and instruction on proper techniques and safety protocols.
  • Provides leadership and direction to Capital Projects and Housing staff to ensure efficient and effective operations.
  • Evaluate performance and provide training and development opportunities for staff.
  • Delegate tasks, manage workloads, respond to staff inquiries, and provide overall direction to employees.
  • Other duties as assigned.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
  • Electrician Journeyperson Certification is required
  • Minimum 5 years experience as a certified Electrician
  • Proficient knowledge of residential electrical systems, codes, and regulations
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve electrical issues efficiently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working in a First Nations community including knowledge of First Nations culture, traditions and values is a definite asset
  • Ability to speak, read and write Cree and/or Dene is considered an asset
  • Clean Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector is required
  • Valid class 5 Driver's License & Clean Driver's Abstract required
