Primary Purpose of Position

Reporting to the Manager, Production Accounting, the Production Accountant is responsible for completing all production accounting requirements for assigned operated and non-operated properties and support the accounting team on tasks related to marketing and royalty accounting.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly royalty cheque runs and address any queries from royalty owners.
  • Prepare, code, and reconcile marketing related purchaser statements and invoices.
  • Create revenue receivable uploads from the purchaser statements received.
  • Follow up on missing statements or error payments.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Production Accountants, Treasury, and counterparties on purchasers and any discrepancies.
  • Validate, analyze, and communicate volumetric data and product splits to all necessary parties.
  • Collaborate with field staff, Measurement, and Engineering departments regarding issues that may affect production.
  • Maintain a solid understanding of the property schematics to align with proper set-up of properties on the Production Accounting System.
  • Investigate and remediate regulatory compliance issues while working with the Measurement department on EPAP, FFV, and PAD government reports.
  • Record monthly revenues, royalty obligations, and code third party fees for the Joint Venture department.
  • Assist with verification and coding of trucking invoices.
  • Respond to queries from other departments, external auditors, and senior management.

Position Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Proficiency with PAS, Petrinex, Prodview, Envirosoft, Qbyte FM, CS Explorer and EnergyLink would be considered an asset.
  • Advanced technical Excel Skills would be considered an asset.
  • Ability to work within a team environment.
  • Effective communication skills with all stakeholders.
  • Detail orientated with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize assignments and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of industry experience is desirable.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience is desirable.
  • Post-secondary education in business with an emphasis in accounting is desirable.
  • Working towards a CPA accounting designation would be considered an asset.
  • CAPPA certification would be considered an asset.
  • Must be legally qualified to work in Canada.
