Exciting new NILD Educational Therapy Internship Opportunity

Are you looking for a way to use your expertise in critical thinking, language, and math skills? Do you enjoy working with children and helping them to connect and engage with learning?

Fraser Academy's Outreach Center (FAx), is offering professionals, recent graduates,or those soon to graduate with a completed a BA/BEd in a related field paid internships as a 1:1 NILD Educational Therapy Intern. This is a two year internship program. FAx serves children, youth, and adults, offering Educational Therapy, Orton Gillingham, Remedial Math, and EF Coaching support. Educational therapy is a growing field in the Lower Mainland. Our educational therapists work with students to gain independence as confident and competent learners with a focus on cognition, perception, academics, and emotions.This includes helping them to develop resilience and a growth mindset and become better thinkers and learners.

What we are offering:

  • 4 weeks of online learning from May 27th, 2024 to June 21st, 2024, approximately 15 hours of work a week that will be completed at your own pace.
  • A 5 day in person Residency from June 24th, 2023, to June 28th, 2024. Monday to Thursday are full days, 8 am to 5 pm, followed by a half day on Friday (8 am to 12 pm).
  • Course work is free of charge with the exception of materials.
  • FAx onboarding from August 27th - 30th, 2024.
  • An opportunity to practice Educational Therapy with up to six students twice per week.
  • Level 1 Educational Therapy certification from the National Institute for Learning and Development.
  • 50% off the cost of the practicum, which includes a minimum of 5 observations and monthly job embedded coaching sessions.
  • Internship pay of $36 per session (increased to $49 after the first 6 months).

What we are looking for:

  • Applicants with a passion for working with children and youth (K-12) in a related field (English, psychology, education, etc).
  • A commitment to a maximum of 12 in-person sessions per week (4:00 to 7:00 pm, Monday to Thursday).
  • A minimum two-year commitment from September to June each year (including 3 weeks off at winter break and two weeks off at spring break).
