Salary:

The Manager of People & Culture will work with the internal Management Teams to evolve the company culture and core values while ensuring on-going alignment with and execution against our company culture. The Manager will ensure the principles of DEI&A are incorporated into the company culture and that the individuality and uniqueness of every employee is encouraged, recognized, and celebrated.

The Manager is responsible for the creation and execution of the annual People & Culture OGSM, leads employee engagement initiatives, leads the semi-annual performance review process, ensures market competitive employee compensation practices, supports employee growth and development planning and inputs into organizational design including providing assistance on employment matters as well as employee job descriptions and role clarity.

Key Responsibilities

Company Culture

  • Work with the CEO and COO to evolve the company culture including documentation and communication of our Mission, Vivid Vision, Core Values and Team Operating Principles/Norms
  • Support the on-going company-wide alignment and execution against our company culture
  • Build the principles of DEI&A, BCorp and the UN SDGs into our company culture and support the recognition and celebration of the uniqueness of every employee

Employee Engagement

  • Oversight of employee engagement processes and principles to ensure they are delivered through the lens of Culture – including Vivid Vision, Core Values, Mission and Team Operating Principles and Norms
  • Oversee the employee feedback mechanism and develop strategies to respond to the needs of employees
  • Support all company communications in partnership with the CEO, COO, the Executive Team and the Operating Team and oversee the planning and execution of all company events, community service and team building
  • Support the creation of communication materials to ensure industry stakeholders are aware of and identify Green Circle as a top environmental employer.
  • Support the C-Suite and Management teams to continuously assess organizational structure and design and improve where/when required to support the achievement of our Vivid Vision and fulfillment of our Mission

Employee Relations

  • Recommends, develops and drives out Human Resources policies to the company
  • Serves as an unbiased resource for all employees to reach out to for any issues related to the company or other co-workers
  • Leads the implementation of company safety and health programs
  • Provide support with understanding, interpreting, and applying municipal, provincial, state and federal employment laws and regulations
  • Responsible for the day to day transactional functions of HR such as managing the HRIS system, Benefit Administration, Policy Creation, Event planning (Annual Retreat, social events) etc.
  • Perform ad hoc reporting, communication and projects as well as other other duties assigned

Recruitment and Selection

  • Partners with the CEO, COO and Functional Leaders to understand and execute the organization's human resource and talent management strategy, particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning
  • Manages the talent acquisition process, including creating job descriptions, position classification, etc.
  • Establishes and leads the standard recruiting and hiring practices and procedures necessary to recruit and hire a superior workforce who has the value alignment with GCS
  • Oversee the development and implementation of effective recruitment strategies
  • Interviews management and executive position candidates; serves as part of the interview team for position finalists
  • Support Departmental Leaders at Green Circle to ensure they have a diverse pipeline of candidates who align with Green Circle's Culture, Vision, Mission and Core Values
  • Support with on-boarding new employees and provide assistance to Team Leaders regarding employment matters
  • May work with external recruiters as required for recruiting certain positions

Employee Performance, Compensation, and Development

  • Lead the semi-annual Performance Evaluation process and implement technology to enable timely and insightful performance and personal development discussions
  • Ensure compensation practices are market competitive and enable strong talent acquisition
  • Support all Leaders and employees to ensure clarity of role and the core KPIs associated with every role in the company
  • Coaches Leaders in supporting communication, feedback, 1 on 1s, employee recognition
  • Monitors and advises leaders in the progressive discipline system of the company
  • Leads the implementation of performance improvement plans with non-performing employees
  • Reviews, guides, and approves management recommendations for employment terminations

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • University degree in Business Administration, and/or Human Resources Management
  • 5+ years as Senior Human Resources Generalist or Human Resources Business Partner level
  • CHRP designation is considered an asset
  • Previous experience leading company culture creation initiatives and gaining cross functional alignment to and on-going execution against the company culture
  • Advanced organizational and leadership skills, including strategic planning
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated change management and employee engagement skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, leaders and executive members
  • Experience leading and implementing DEI&A training, policies and procedures preferred
