General Job Description

The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for the sourcing, processing and ordering of MRO items including expediting orders as required with the objective of securing the best price, terms and conditions where possible.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Source and negotiate MRO products and services considering cost, service, reliability and delivery.
  • Review service contracts annually
  • Process all PQR's using DocuSign for MRO items (Both Stock & Non-Stock Consumables)
  • Support Department Managers in accurately preparing annual MRO budgets
  • Support Facilities Manager with Inventory accuracy along with Min/Max volumes for all Stock items.
  • Assure all orders are charged to the appropriate budget
  • Rush orders may be placed without a purchase order number provided they have the proper authorization.
  • Responsible for confirming pricing and expected delivery dates.
  • Support other departments, when necessary, with price negotiations, locating a new supplier etc. when necessary.
  • Responsible for setting up new suppliers in JDE.
  • Set up and revise approval routings as required.
  • Execute change orders as required in a timely manner.
  • Required to meet with suppliers occasionally and represent the company in a professional manner.
  • Verify correct account codes etc. on all orders entered into JDE.
  • Set up and revise approval routings as required using DocuSign.
  • Provide support to Maintenance Managers for developing reports using CMMS
  • Support and overlap duties with Maintenance Admin Position.
  • Work in a safe manner and maintain 5S.
  • TG Minto may amend the reporting structure and/or duties and responsibilities as business needs require.

Education and/or Experience

  • Relative College Diploma, or continuing Education in Purchasing ; or 1-3 years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to review contract terms.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to understand currency.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • High degree of computer skills and problem solving abilities.
  • JDE experience is an asset
