Compensation: $70,000- $85,000/ yearly

Come Grow with Us! Forsite is actively looking for a Wildfire Management Specialist with experience and demonstrated aptitude in wildfire behaviour, risk management and fuel management. This position has a preference to be based in one of our BC offices, however there may be opportunity for remote work and localized client service for the right candidate.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Operating within Forsite's Resource Management and Technology business area, the Wildfire Management Specialist will work within a team of fire science, wildfire management and risk management specialists to deliver wildfire risk decision support tools and information in response to a range of wildfire risk and forest management management challenges.

Projects the Wildfire Management Specialist may be involved in include fire behaviour modeling, strategic risk assessment, landscape ecology, landscape and resilience planning and innovative data solutions to support wildfire decisions.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • A safety conscious attitude;
  • Post-secondary education with a natural resource management focus;
  • Registered Professional Forester with the FPBC or AAFMP (or eligible);
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience in wildfire and fuels management;
  • Formal training and/or experience in wildfire behaviour analysis/modeling and wildfire operations;
  • Proficient in ESRI ArcGIS and Microsoft Office™ tools;
  • Basic understanding of legislation and policy impacting land management in Western Canada.
