Sterling Ridge Group is a Group of Construction Based Companies that operate throughout Ontario. We are looking for a motivated, disciplined, self-starter to become a member of our Health and Safety Team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensures compliance with Health and Safety standards and legal regulations
  • Under the guidance of Health and Safety Director reviews the health and safety systems comparing their present state with best practices as benchmarked by health and safety regulations and practices in other organizations
  • Monitors compliance with all Health and Safety objectives for Sterling Ridge Group

JOB TASKS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Provides guidance to field personnel
  • Analyzes routine job tasks for hazards and identifies safer ways of performing job duties
  • Maintains a sound knowledge of legislative standards health and safety
  • Works and acts in a professional manner in keeping with the Sterling Ridge Group Agenda and all other company standards
  • Identifies and communicates training requirements to ensure continued level of expertise
  • Reviews and updates elements of the Safety Management System to ensure conformance to industry standards and both Federal and Provincial legislation
  • Comfortable interacting with internal and external contacts, with the ability to take initiative in building relationships independently
  • Demonstrates strength in critical thinking and decisive action in high stress situations
  • Demonstrates ability to work within a team environment as well as independently

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • NCSO designation preferred
  • Post-Secondary School Diploma or Degree Preferred
  • Must have strong computer skills Microsoft Office, Excel, and incident management software
  • Five plus years of experience
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication and leadership skills
  • Have a solid understanding of Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations OHS Regulations
  • Train the trainer courses an asset
  • Must have Heavy Machinery/Equipment knowledge
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driver's abstract
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (this role may be required to speak publicly and engage with members of the public on occasion)
  • Great organizational skills and an eye for detail
  • Ability to interpret and apply technical requirements
  • Comfortable working in various environmental conditions, inclement weather, and rough terrain for extended periods of time
  • Capable of multiple physical demands including lifting (up to 25 kg), hiking, entering, and exiting equipment, and working at heights
