Job Summary:

Machinists set up and machine using conventional, portable and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines that cut or grind metal and other materials into products with precise dimensions. These machines include lathes, milling machines, saws, grinding machines, drilling machines, boring machines, line borers and portable milling machines.


Job Responsibilities:

Your supervisor may from time to time ask you to perform other related duties not specifically included in this job description. This job's key responsibilities include:

  • Ability to read engineering blueprints and translate them into the proper machine parameters for specified materials to produce machined molds / parts.
  • Check the machine tool's calibration and motion accuracy.
  • Working knowledge of the tools, fixtures, processes utilized in the machining departments.
  • Perform all required machining checks for quality, maintenance, and HS&E requirements.
  • Set-up, run, assist, and troubleshoot various machines throughout the plant, with a team leader / supervisor's guidance.
  • Accountable for machine set-up and /or operations and / or maintenance, and/or troubleshooting.
  • Responsible for quality inspections of the machines recording and resolving any abnormalities.
  • Ability to adhere and complete work within specified timelines.
  • Experience programming various types of plant machinery (i.e., CNC, NC, 3D, 2D, etc.)
  • Must be prepared to work on various shifts with supervision.
  • Ability to schedule and perform maintenance and repairs to machinery.
  • Experience with 3D printing and machining would be an asset.
  • Adherence to all company and operating policies, procedures, and training requirements.
  • Participate in and support Continuous Improvements.

Job Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent that includes Math and English credits
  • Machinist (preference for Red Seal Endorsement or equivalent)
  • Min of 2-3 years of experience as machinist, working independently on lathes, milling machines, saws, grinding machines, drilling machines, boring machines, line borers and portable milling machines.
