Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) with a specialty in Mental Health nursing for a travel position in Middleton, Nova Scotia. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4 years of experience in an mental health setting.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments of patients admitted to the acute care facility

• Administer psychiatric medications and monitor patient response and side effects

• Implement therapeutic interventions tailored to individual patient needs, including crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement comprehensive care plans

• Monitor and document patient behavior, mental status, and response to treatment

• Provide patient and family education about mental health conditions, medications, and coping strategies

• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and treatment team meetings to review patient progress and adjust care plans as needed

• Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff

• Adhere to hospital policies and procedures, as well as regulatory standards, related to psychiatric nursing care.

Qualifications:

• Current RN licensure in Nova Scotia

• 4 years of experience in an mental health setting.

• Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to remain calm and focused in high-stress situations.

• BLS certifications required.
