Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) with a specialty in Med /Surg nursing for a travel position in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4 years of experience in a medical/surgical setting.

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care in the Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) unit

• Assess and monitor patients with a variety of medical conditions, surgical interventions, and post-operative care needs

• Administer medications, IV fluids, and other treatments as prescribed by physicians

• Monitor and manage patient pain levels, wound care, and drainage systems

• Collaborate with healthcare team members including physicians, nurse practitioners, physical therapists, and social workers

• Educate patients and families about their medical conditions, treatments, and self-care techniques

• Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges

• Perform nursing procedures such as wound dressing changes, catheter insertions, and NG tube placements

• Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and comprehensively

• Follow hospital policies, procedures, and safety protocols to ensure high-quality patient care and minimize risks

• Respond to emergencies and provide immediate interventions as necessary

• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, patient care conferences, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and nursing practice.

Qualifications:

• Current RN licensure in Nova Scotia

• 4 years of experience in an med/surg setting.

• Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to remain calm and focused in high-stress situations.

• BLS certifications required.
