Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) with a specialty in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nursing for a travel position in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4 years of experience in a ICU setting.

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) setting

• Assess and monitor patient condition, vital signs, and responses to treatment

• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians

• Perform various medical procedures such as intubation, ventilator management, and arterial line insertions

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members including physicians, respiratory therapists, and pharmacists

• Educate patients and their families about their conditions, treatments, and post-discharge care

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation

• Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and infection control protocols

• Respond to emergencies and provide immediate interventions as necessary

• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education opportunities to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

• Current RN licensure in Nova Scotia

• 4 years of experience in ICU setting.

• Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to remain calm and focused in high-stress situations.

• BLS and ACLS.
