Position: Booking Clerk

Status: Part-Time

Department: Central Scheduling

Salary: $27.00 to $29.55 / hour

Hours of Work: 12 hour shifts. Weekdays, Weekends and Holidays.

Position Summary:

Working under the direction of the Manager of Staff Scheduling and Payroll, the Scheduler works as a member of the People Services Team to coordinate the scheduling and staffing of hospital staff in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, collective agreements and legislation. The Scheduler develops and maintains unit schedules, coordinates replacement staffing, and records and inputs time and entitlement information into the scheduling/payroll system.

Participates in service and hospital-wide activities and programs that model and promote a safe and healthy patient-centered environment and that contribute to quality improvement and risk management initiatives.

Requirements:

Education/Specific Training Requirements:

  • Secondary school graduation diploma with a two-year business/business administration/office administration certificate/diploma and/or relevant equivalent staff scheduling experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Internet and Microsoft Explorer applications at an intermediate level
  • Demonstrated excellence in spoken and written communication
  • Demonstrated accurate keyboarding skills and data entry practices
  • Demonstrated ability in prioritizing tasks, problem-solving, critical thinking, attending to detail, self-organizing, self-motivating and adapting in relation to a variety of activities

Relevant Experience

  • Previous experience in a staff scheduling role in a hospital setting or other similar complex environment or (2) years previous experience in using a complex data base is required
  • Experience with scheduling or payroll software an asset
  • Demonstrated expertise in multi-tasking, working well under pressure and meeting strict deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to relate in a tactful and sensitive manner with staff, patients and the general public.
  • Good attendance and availability required
