Schedule: 7 on / 7 off

Role Summary:

Bouchier is seeking a highly skilled Utility Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team for roads and grounds projects. As a key member of our Special Projects division, you will be responsible for operating a variety of heavy equipment including excavators, loaders, dozers, graders, and other specialized machinery. Your primary objective will be to execute tasks with precision, efficiency, and above all, safety.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, dozers, and graders in a safe and efficient manner to support roads and grounds projects.
  • Perform finish grading operations with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Adhere strictly to legislative requirements, company policies, and procedures regarding equipment operation, maintenance, and safety protocols.
  • Ensure cleanliness, maintenance, and security of all assigned equipment, conducting regular inspections and maintenance checks as required.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to achieve project goals, demonstrating adaptability to potentially perform laborer duties as needed.
  • Proactively communicate any equipment issues or maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel to minimize downtime and ensure continuous operation.
  • Participate actively in safety initiatives, including Job Hazard Assessments, Field Level Risk Assessments, and safety meetings.
  • Embrace a culture of continuous improvement by seeking opportunities to enhance equipment operation techniques and efficiency.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the General Foreman and Site Manager

Education & Experience:

  • Valid Class 1 or 3 Driver's License is required.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of hands-on experience operating Heavy Equipment is required.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience as finish grade operators.
    • Competency testing will be conducted on-site to further assess and validate abilities.
  • Clean 5-year Driver Abstract obtained within 30 days prior to starting work is required.
  • CSTS-09 and OSSA Regional Orientation, or OSSA BSO (Basic Safety Orientation before December 31, 2018), or CSO (Common Safety Orientation after January 1, 2019) is required.

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds or more.
  • Safety conscious attitude
  • Must be willing to work in fluctuating climates (hot, cold, wet) and environmental conditions.
  • Must be comfortable working in close proximity to water.
  • Ability to pass a Drug and Alcohol test and Fit for Duty test.
  • Applicants are required to be clean shaven for testing and beyond.
  • All applicants must have the ability to speak, read and write fluently in English.
