About the Role

The User Experience Designer plays an essential part in shaping user experiences across our digital products by focusing on the usability, accessibility, and overall effectiveness of our educational platform, Edwin. By conducting research to understand diverse user needs, you will create intuitive designs that cater to students, teachers, and administrators at different stages of their learning journey.

In this role, you'll work closely with cross-functional teams including curriculum experts, developers, product managers, and stakeholders throughout the design process. Your expertise in UX design principles and methodologies will be applied to crafting high-fidelity wireframes and prototypes that meet accessibility guidelines while driving innovation through user testing and iterative refinement.

Key Accountabilities

  • Conduct user research and analysis to understand the business needs, target users' needs, behaviors, and preferences.
  • Develop user personas and scenarios based on insights gathered from user research.
  • Create wireframes and prototypes that visually represent product structure, flow, and interaction points before visual design and development begins.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including curriculum experts, designers, developers, product managers, and other stakeholders, to ensure the user experience aligns with business objectives and meets users' needs.
  • Participate in usability testing sessions to gather feedback on design prototypes from real users.
  • Iteratively refine final designs based on user research, analytics data, and insights gathered during the development process.
  • Contribute to brand consistency across digital products or services by collaborating with visual designers on shared projects.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in UX design to continuously improve design skills and methodologies.
  • Prepare and present user research findings, design concepts, and prototypes to stakeholders for review and feedback.
  • Document and share learnings from the design process, including successes and failures, with team members and other relevant parties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in UX design, human-computer interaction, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding and practical application of user-centered design principles, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, researchers, developers, product managers, and stakeholders throughout the design process.
  • Proficient in various design and prototyping tools like Figma, InVision Studio, and similar applications.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities to find innovative solutions that balance user needs, business objectives, and technical constraints.
  • Experience in conducting user research, creating personas, scenarios, and wireframes, and participating in usability testing sessions.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG 2.1) and an understanding of how to incorporate inclusivity into UX design solutions.
  • Passion for sustainability and educational goals, with a commitment to creating user-centered experiences that align with these values.
  • Ability to work independently or in small teams, managing multiple projects simultaneously while staying organized and meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrable professional portfolio highlighting successful UX/UI designs and projects across various platforms, including web and mobile interfaces.
