Position Title: Clubhouse Hostel Attendant & Huts Reservations Agent.

Classification: Part-Time. Weekends and evenings are required. 15 hours per week. Your time will be split between the Hostel Attendant role and the Huts Reservations Agent role depending on operational needs.

Wage: $18.50 per hour.

Hostel Attendant

Responsibilities:

  • Front Desk and Reservations:Check-in and check-out guests, creating a seamless arrival and departure experience.Monitor the hostel email and guest inquiries.Handle guest complaints and conflict resolution to ensure satisfaction.Daily usage of Teams and our property management system.Housekeeping:Change bed linens, clean bathrooms, vacuum, mop, and ensure rooms are ready for guest arrival.Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies as needed, and ensure that stock of stored and used in a safe manner.General Responsibilities:Maintain a positive and welcoming atmosphere for guests.
  • Adapt to any additional duties or responsibilities assigned within the hostel environment.
  • Answer inquiries via phone, email, or in person.
  • Perform housekeeping duties as needed, this may include deep cleans, facility checks.
  • Perform daily housekeeping duties to ensure cleanliness and orderliness of hostel common areas and guest rooms.
  • Making hostel reservations if needed.
  • Answer phone calls from guests with hostel inquiries.
  • Provide information on Hostel facilities, local community, and create reservations for the Canmore hostel.
  • Greet and assist hostel guests in a friendly and professional manner.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Positive and engaging personality.- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean environment.
  • Previous travel, hostel, or customer service experience is an asset.- Fluency in a second language is an asset.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs and roll objects up to 75lbs.
  • Time management to ensure tasks are completed in a timely and effective manner.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Reservations Agent

Responsibilities:

  • Auditing new huts reservations - checking membership, confirming reservations, helping guests through the process.Receive and direct incoming phone calls and respond to guest inquiries for backcountry huts.Provided assistance to our overall hut experience – helping with verbiage and updating hut information as needed.Office Orders- Delegating and communicating with the National office to organize a monthly supply order through staples.
  • Additional projects – during slow times there is opportunity to take on projects with other departments.
  • Assisting the Huts Coordinator & Hostel Manager with projects
  • Provide information on the Alpine Club of Canada, including member services, adventures programs and special events.
  • Create reservations for the backcountry huts and provide detailed information on trailhead and route descriptions to access our facilities.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Have a positive and engaging personality, and a familiarity with the ACC. Have strong computer skills and are proficient at setting priorities and multi-tasking. A 2nd language is an asset.
  • Are detail oriented, friendly and are committed to providing a great experience to our guests.
  • Have previous travel and hostel experience, or experience in a customer service position.

About the ACC: The ACC is a not-for-profit organization established in 1906 that has grown to include 33 backcountry huts and 25 volunteer-run sections across the country. We also organize seasonal programs, such as our annual General Mountaineering Camp, as well as Shadow Lake Lodge and our hostel in Canmore. We have a rich history in Canadian Mountaineering and a dynamic team at the office to manage our diverse portfolios.

Position Overview: Operating 7 days a week from the ACC Clubhouse, Clubhouse Housekeepers are responsible for ensuring that the hostel is kept clean and hygienic by performing housekeeping duties in accordance with Alpine Club of Canada policies and procedures and mission statement. This position is responsible for performing regular cleaning duties and laundry duties.
