Role Summary

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the System Administrator, OHS Resource Centre provides on-site system administrator support functions including creating committees, assigning role-based permissions, monitoring site usage, and preparing dashboard data for presentations. In addition, this position will provide first-line assistance to end users, responding to support requests, documenting issues, troubleshooting and maintaining user support materials.

This is a temporary full-time position with an end date of March 31, 2026.

Please note that this is a remote worker position (must reside in BC) and only candidates who live in BC will be considered and interviewed. Occasional travel for in-person events is required.

Duties and Responsibilities

System Administration:

  1. Assigns role-based permissions for all Health Authority (HA) non-committee level roles.
  2. Develops reports and monitors site usage through methods such as Google Analytics reporting.
  3. Aggregates OHS Resource Centre dashboard data for all committees and creates presentations for the SWITCH BC leadership team and SWITCH BC partners.
  4. Implements technical enhancements for Joint Occupational Health & Safety (JOHS) Committee in alignment with recommendations as per SWITCH BC's governance structures.
  5. Maintains, develops, and updates links and general OHS Resource Centre content, defined in collaboration with specific governance committees including the OHS Resource Centre Working Group.
  6. Manages and pushes communications of jointly developed provincial standards from union and employer practitioners within the OHS Resource Centre platform.

End User Support:

  1. Provides helpdesk support and responding to user support requests through email, phone, or remote connection to OHS Resource Centre users and escalates technical issues to the technical team through ticketing.
  2. Documents request details for tracking, follow-up, and resolution.
  3. Completes basic troubleshooting to assess and resolve issues.
  4. Documents details of issues requiring more advanced technical support and emails details to OHS Solutions technical support teams; identifies urgent and high-priority issues.
  5. Sends out notifications to alert users about urgent and high-priority issues.
  6. Develops and maintains user support material including maintaining training manuals and key educational documents to ensure they are up to date and align with current functionality of the OHS Resource Centre.
  7. Creates and maintains a Knowledge Base of support-related Questions & Answers (Q&As) for easy reference and future knowledge transfer to new or additional resources.

Education, Training and Experience

Bachelor of Science Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline plus five (5) years of recent related experience. Professional certification similar or equal to Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) is an asset.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong verbal and written communication as well as facilitation skills to work effectively in a team setting and with a variety of both technical and non-technical partners.
  • Experience providing friendly and patient assistance to end users while understanding and empathizing with users' frustrations and concerns.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues for both system issues and end users.
  • Strong organizational skills for managing tasks, schedules, and documentation.
  • Demonstrated flexibility to learn new tools and processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to be thorough and thoughtful in managing system configurations and end user issues.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records of end user issues and system configurations.
  • Familiarity with common software, hardware, operating systems, and database servers (Jira, Visio, MS Excel, PowerPoint, SQL Server). Azure knowledge is a bonus.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current advanced word processing, graphics presentation, and spreadsheet computer applications to prepare reports and presentations.
  • Understanding of basic cybersecurity principles to safeguard system integrity and data.
  • Experience with Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committees is considered a strong asset.

Salary Range: $65,884 - $82,355 per year depending on experience

Typical Hiring Range: $65,884 - $78,237 per year

The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate's relevant education and experience as well as internal equity, and would be in alignment with SWITCH BC's compensation framework.
