INDUSTRIAL DESIGNER

eurOptimum is a leader in custom design and manufacturing of interior signage and display systems. We are known for creating innovative visual solutions tailored to a wide range of environments for major clients throughout North America. We offer complete design, display and project management solutions for corporate, retail, financial, academic and hospitality clientele.

Exposure to the signage and display industry and/or large-scale print files is required. We are looking for a creative individual who has the ability to think outside the box and bring inspiring ideas to life.

Please note that this is a full-time in-office position located at eurOptimum's Toronto head office.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Consult with internal clients and production specialists to establish the overall look, design elements and product requirements;
  • Determine the medium best suited to produce the desired visual display and the most appropriate vehicle for communication and production;
  • Prepare manufacturing drawings, specifications and guidelines for production and installation;
  • Produce layouts of architectural hardware, signage, and fixtures;
  • Use existing photo and illustration banks, client supplied images and typography guides to meet clients' needs;
  • Use creative software skills as value adds when applicable and as requested;
  • Work in a multidisciplinary environment;
  • Create efficiencies and improvements in the overall design processes;
  • Manage internal and external stakeholder expectations as it pertains to timelines and turnaround times;
  • Consult with engineers and production staff (as required) during fabrication stage;
  • Offer creative and technical recommendations on project work when required;
  • Maintain accuracy by paying attention to details and double checking work; and
  • Continue to enhance your design knowledge and skill set when time is available.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Completion of a post-secondary program in Industrial Design is required;
  • 3-5 years' experience in industrial design;
  • Experience in SolidWorks and knowledge of InDesign, KeyShot, and SketchUp are advantageous;
  • Experience of Knowledge working with Aluminum extrusions (weldments), and sheet metal;
  • Mandatory software experience includes Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop;
  • Ability to produce technical drawings and layouts quickly with accuracy and detail;
  • Manage multiple on-going projects from beginning to end in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines;
  • Technical ability and artistic talent, as demonstrated by a portfolio of work;
  • A passion to stay current on market trends and research as it relates to design.
