The Project Manager is responsible for the successful planning and execution of each project. Responsibilities include the planning/management of the project team, scope of work, schedule, open items, documentation, and budget. The Project Manager is the main customer contact throughout the project lifecycle and is focused on developing/strengthening customer relationships.

Major Areas of Accountability:

  • Provide direction and control of multi-disciplinary project teams throughout all phases of the project, including concept design, system design, integration, buy off/acceptance and factory installation
  • Foster strong customer relationships through good communication throughout the project lifecycle. Update the customer as required on project progress, scope, open issues, schedule, and technical issues
  • Prepare and maintain the project schedule – for both internal and customer use, including coordination of all CCI customer deliverables. Ensure that all project deliverables are complete and delivered as per schedule
  • Create/maintain Open Issues Lists that are shared with the customer
  • Continually review the scope of work for any possible risk items; develop, initiate, and monitor any risk mitigation plans
  • Monitor the procurement process to ensure that materials are delivered as required per current project schedule
  • Monitor out of scope work/requests and initiate Engineering Change procedures as necessary including initiating quotations and negotiations of ECOs with customers
  • Monitor and maintain the financial success of the project by tracking all material and labour costs throughout the project lifecycle and adjusting as required
  • Schedule and manage all design reviews to ensure that the work is executed in a timely fashion and that the resultant designs meet scope, cost, and schedule requirements
  • Assist department managers in manpower planning for their project(s)
  • Provide weekly job status reviews to management
  • Provide direction to the Applications Engineering group as required during the quotation development process

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Technology Diploma in an Engineering discipline and or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant Project experience preferably in a test and development environment

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Basic technical knowledge including broad understanding of electrical, software and mechanical engineering concepts
  • Basic understanding of commercial aspects of contract engineering
  • Proficient in influencing, negotiating and relationship building skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Prioritization/organization of work and multi-tasking skills are critical to this position
  • Capacity to deal with a high workload and the pressure of meeting deadlines
  • Excellent listening, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Requires a strong initiative, proactive nature, and a sense of urgency
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of intellectual property (Controlled Goods, etc.)

Physical Requirements (these physical requirements must be performed with or without accommodation):

  • Majority of time is spent in usual office working conditions
  • Ability to sit for extended lengths of time is required; bend, reach, stoop, and twist as required
  • Use of an office computer for completing work
  • Exposure to a manufacturing area which may entail exposure to dirt, dust, and other attributes common to this environment
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. occasionally
  • Minimal travel may be required (less than 5%)
