HSR Zero Waste is looking for an experienced waste consultant or sustainability coordinator to join our passionate team as a Zero Waste Associate & Lead Waste Auditor.

This is a Part-Time leading to a Full-Time position. Additional hours will be provided based on abilities and skill set.

We are a Zero Waste Consulting firm with the core services of performing waste audits and facility assessments in order to develop Zero Waste Plans and strategies for our clients. Experience in GHG calculation is an asset.

Job Title: Zero Waste Associate

Estimated Start Date: April 2024

Work Hours: Ranging from 16 to a maximum of 32 hours per week (hours may vary depending on project needs)

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday with some weekend work (flexible work week optional)

Pay Rate: $30/hr to Start $35/h after 6 months

Location: Head Office - Port Coquitlam

Reporting can be performed from home based office or HSR Head Office

Field Work - mainly BC Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley. Travel outside of BC may be required as organization grows.

This role promotes and enhances all aspects of Zero Waste education and Zero Waste services by working closely with other Zero Waste Associates and Coordinators.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct customer waste audits as lead auditor which includes sorting waste and tracking data
  • Coordinate a team of 2 - 4 sorters for audits
  • Draft audit and assessment reports
  • Deliver basic Zero Waste Education to clients and other organizations
  • Facilitate meetings with clients
  • Facilitate Zero Waste Certification process for customers
  • Perform facility assessment
  • Interview key stakeholders & Report findings
  • Draft case studies
  • Create presentation and present findings to clients

Secondary Marketing Activities:

  • Attend virtual events to elevate HSR Zero Waste presence in the marketplace
  • Attract additional clients through attending or presenting at virtual events and in front of customers and committees.
  • Leverage existing contacts to increase HSR Zero Waste client base
  • Perform duties related to Zero Waste webinars and guest speaker sessions
  • Other related duties

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in environmental/sustainability field, Education or related Field
  • Experience within the environmental or waste industry (Minimum 2 years)
    • Experience developing and delivering educational programs
  • Experienced with waste consulting and writing reports
  • Zero Waste Canada's Zero Waste Fundamentals Certificate is an asset (completion within probation period is required)
  • Experience in the collection of base data used to calculate greenhouse gas emissions and the calculation of GHG emissions using base data is a plus
  • Experience in performing investigations related to waste and conducting interviews with key stakeholders
  • Knowledge of Zero Waste policies and programs
