Description
Reporting directly into the Controller (reporting structure may change), the Senior Financial Analyst will be an integral member of finance team with wide range of responsibilities from preparing financial statements and cash forecasting to analyzing investment returns and being a key person for divisional and company-wide projects such audits, system upgrades and implementations, and other ad hoc projects.
Responsibilities· Monthly, quarterly and annual accounting close process and surrounding controls including timely and accurate completion of account reconciliations· Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) for the corporate entities, non-consolidated and consolidated· Preparation of monthly, semi-annual and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS for the investment plans.· Preparation of related reports and schedules to financial statements, and analysis of data· Management of income and Sales Tax (HST, GST, QST, SLFI) return preparation and filing processes· Prepare annual insurance renewal for corporate insurance policies· Preparation of key month end, quarter end and year end financial reporting deliverables· Preparation of cash forecasting· Calculate monthly performance for the total fund and underlying mandates and provide performance and attribution insights· Analysis of variance analysis monthly· Support external auditors, government authorities, consultants, and functional internal divisions
Qualifications· Strong experience in accounting and financial reporting for corporate entities and investment structures such as investment funds· Post-secondary diploma or degree in accounting· Professional Accounting designation (CPA) completed or in progress of completion· At least 2 years' of progressive experience at Big 4 Accounting Firm preferred· Experience in cash forecasting is preferred· Experience in financial services industry or with financial service clients is preferred· Proven dedication to the internal/external customer's needs· Experience in developing and leading high performing and engaged teams· Honest, ethical and trustworthy attitude· Demonstrated focus on results and business/operational improvements· Proven ability to set and achieve objectives· Desire to work in a team environment, in multiple different capacities· Analytical skills to analyze income and expenses, reconcile accounts, provide information to auditors· Detail-orientation with solid grasp of IFRS, accounting procedures· Solid working knowledge of software and database systems used in financial reporting· Strong PC skills and proficiency with spreadsheet programs, such as or most importantly on MS Excel· Knowledge of Power Query and Power BI would be beneficial· Excellent verbal and communication skills and the ability to summarize and present complex financial data in an organized, concise manner· Must be able to work independently and have the ability to interact with co- workers, management, auditors and/or regulators· Someone who to diverse perspectives with an empathetic attitude· A lifelong learner that is performance driven· Someone who recognizes our customers as our most important stakeholders · The ability to work in a team setting and serve value. · Someone who continuously takes initiative and embraces change
