About the Role:

Reporting

The Facilities Maintenance Worker reports directly to the Facilities Maintenance Manager.

Key Performance Indicators / Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist Facilities Team with various repair and maintenance tasks; building systems, plumbing, electrical, mechanical and control systems along with related components; test systems and component devices as well as evaluating performance of equipment.
  • Performing routine inspections of buildings and facilities to identify maintenance needs.
  • Assist in moving, arranging, and organizing furniture and equipment as required.
  • Following safety protocols and procedures while performing maintenance tasks.
  • Documenting maintenance activities, including complete tasks, repairs made, and materials used.
  • Report any significant maintenance issues or safety concerns to senior maintenance staff.
  • Assisting in maintaining cleanliness and organization in storage areas and maintenance rooms.
  • Repair and maintain a variety of facilities systems, components, and structures; repair building plumbing, low-voltage electric systems, door hardware, fire and life safety protection equipment/systems, indoor/outdoor lighting, fans etc.
  • Maintain clean physical facilities- sweeping, cleaning, shoveling etc.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs.; moving up and down stairs, bending, lifting, and carrying items.
  • Help loading and unloading equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Facilities Maintenance Manager.

Qualifications

  • Minimum High School education or equivalent.
  • General facilities knowledge pertaining to commercial buildings with the ability to work on, repair, or trouble shoot basic plumbing, electrical, or mechanical issues.
  • Knowledge of power and hand tools used in facilities maintenance is an asset.
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety standards and procedures.
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • The ability to service and perform preventative maintenance on small motorized equipment, engines and on automotive vehicles an asset.
  • Must be self- motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to lift up to approximately 50 lbs.
  • Must have valid driver's license.
  • Mechanically inclined.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft computer software (e.g. Excel, Word, etc.) and email.
  • Ability to use computers, laptops, tablets, cell phones to view tickets and take actions.
  • Self-starter, very customer-service oriented and works well in a team environment.

Experience

  • 2 to 4 years of work experience in building maintenance.
  • Experience in the aviation industry is considered an asset.
