Our client is looking to bring on several skilled Environmental Consultants located in Edmonton, Calgary, Red Deer, Lloydminster, Lethbridge, or Kindersley, SK. They are seeking Senior Environmental Consultants to perform the duties and responsibilities provided below in accordance with the organization's standard operating procedures and performance objectives while adhering to the applicable health and safety regulations, and professional codes of conduct.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Execute scopes of work and cost estimates under the supervision of the Senior Project Scientist.
  • Any changes to the scope of work are to be communicated and approved by the Senior Project Scientist prior to implementation.
  • Accurately track and provide daily budget updates to the Senior Project Scientist for wildlife and aquatics projects.
  • Initiate fieldwork that has been assigned by the Senior Project Scientist, including landowner communications, client communications.
  • Initiate and schedule fieldwork and all related services.
  • Ensure ground disturbance and safety documentation is completed on all sites assigned.
  • Review and ensure accurate and up to date field data is collected and there are no errors based upon what was assigned to complete;
  • Any other assigned duties as required by the position.
Education and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or diploma in Environmental Science, Land reclamation, Agrology or equivalent.
  • 5 years of relevant field experience in environmental site assessments on public and private lands.
  • Groundwater knowledge and experience monitoring well installations.
  • Professional designation is required.
Health, Safety, and Environment (HSEQ) Requirements:
  • Reviewing and adhering to the company HSE policies and procedures as directed by the HSE Manager.
  • Complying with policy, rules, standards, procedures, and practices.
  • Correcting hazards as soon as they are observed.
  • Immediately reporting to supervisory personnel all incidents, injuries/illnesses, near misses, and hazard ID's.
  • Using equipment and tools (including rentals) as per manufacturer's specifications and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Knowing the location, type and operation of emergency equipment and being familiar with site-specific emergency procedures.
  • Refusing to perform work that poses an imminent danger and/or refusing to perform work they are not qualified to perform.
  • Participating in workplace inspections and monthly office safety inspections as directed by the HSE Manager.
Key Performance Indicators (KPI's):
  • Commitment to safety and safety performance – understanding that individual KPI's effect divisional and organizational HSE targets and goals.
  • Replicon – daily time and expense entry.
  • Utilization/billable targets – 100% / 100% with the exception of approved non-billable time (internal compliance assignments, holidays, vacation, safety, training, and professional development).
  • Professional development - increasing competency.
  • Quality of work – as appraised by immediate supervisors, peers, and clients.
