Compensation range: $21- $24 Hourly CAD

The Compensation Range includes the span between the minimum and maximum base salary. The midpoint of the range is approximately halfway between the minimum and the maximum base salary and can be considered for an employee with full job knowledge, required qualifications and experience for the position.

Organizational Status
We are currently looking forward to welcoming a Full- Time, Computer Network Technician. You will be part of our fantastic team and report directly to the Computer Systems Manager. You'll be part of a team of experienced and passionate people who believe in continuous development and work hard behind the scenes to help its students thrive in Canada.

Job responsibilities:

Network Installation and Configuration:

  • Install and configure networking equipment such as routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Set up network connections, both wired and wireless, ensuring optimum performance and security.
  • Maintaining company assets, such as laptops, computers, storage devices and peripherals
  • Tests programs and administers user accounts; Sets up and submits production jobs and edits and debugs computer output; Transfers computer files between platforms;

Network Maintenance:

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure the reliability and efficiency of the network.
  • Monitor network performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Update network equipment firmware and software as needed.

Troubleshooting and Support:

  • Provides basic troubleshooting, repair and maintenance for computer equipment (e.g. Microcomputers, disk drives, and laser printers) and may assist with testing personal computers and peripherals on a network to diagnose, hardware versus software problems.
  • Diagnose and resolve network issues, including connectivity problems, bandwidth issues, and security breaches.
  • Provide technical support to end-users, faculty, and staff regarding network-related problems.
  • Respond to network emergencies and implement solutions promptly.
  • Resolving employee tickets and complaints

Security Management:

  • Implement and maintain network security measures, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and VPNs.
  • Monitor network traffic for suspicious activity and security breaches.
  • Enforce college policies regarding network usage and security protocols.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, diagrams, and procedures.
  • Generate reports on network performance, security incidents, and maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with other IT staff to develop and update network documentation and procedures.

Capacity Planning and Upgrades:

  • Assess network capacity and performance requirements and plan for future upgrades.
  • Recommend hardware and software upgrades to meet the changing needs of the college.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for the procurement of network equipment and services.
  • Contribute to improving IT department by bringing in creative ideas and being able to take care of small projects.

Ordering, purchases and inventory records:

  • Create purchase orders,
  • Maintain and Review Purchasing, Shipping, and Receiving Records.
  • Prepare reports on purchases, including cost analyses; Monitor stock levels and place orders as needed;
  • Collate purchase orders and purchase requisitions in order-to-order materials, goods and supplies. ·
  • manage the company's inventory levels to determine when new purchases are needed.
  • Tracking the orders and ensuring timely deliveries.

Supervision ReceivedWorks independently and in collaboration with the Computer Systems Manager. The performance is evaluated for efficiency, effectiveness, achievement of objectives, and quality of work.
Supervision Given None, however, may provide general training/explain the work sequences to new team members.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
  • Basic Management of user account in Azure and GoDaddy
  • Certification in network technologies such as Cisco CCNA or CompTIA Network+.
  • Proficiency in networking protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VLANs.
  • Hands-on experience with network equipment from vendors such as Cisco, UniFi
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to analyze complex network issues.
  • Knowledge of network security principles and best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
