Kobalt.io is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Sales Director to join our senior leadership team and provide strategic direction to our sales team. The Sales Director will be responsible for driving revenue growth by developing and executing strategic sales plans, cultivating relationships with clients, and expanding our customer base.

This role requires deep experience in assessing market opportunities and then developing and executing a plan to meet/exceed sales objectives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cybersecurity sales, excellent leadership skills, and a proven track record of

exceeding sales targets.

Qualifications

A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree and 3-5 years of recent related experience at a mid-to-senior level working within a complex technology sales environment. You have experience as the primary leader in scaling a sales organization's revenue from $5M to $50M or similar.


Skills And Abilities

Your Responsibilities:

  • Driving the sales team performance as manager and individual contributor to hit MRR and professional services bookings targets
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the sales team, fostering a culture of high performance and accountability.
  • Identify new business opportunities and market trends through effective client engagement, negotiation, and closing techniques.
  • Working strategic opportunities as an individual sales contributor and in support of opportunities within the team
  • Identifying and executing on opportunities to improve sales performance include win rate, cross/upsell activities, average order value, deal velocity and more
  • Track and analyze sales performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Work closely with strategic partners and clients, developing key relationships
  • Act closely as a member of the leadership team to drive company initiatives and programs, new service introductions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, product, and operations, to ensure alignment and support for sales initiatives.
  • Building and supporting the maintenance of the necessary tools, processes, templates, proposals, presentations and related materials with sales, product, marketing functions to ensure repeatable sales motions
  • Managing a high volume pipeline to optimize sales performance, maintain team engagement and focus, ensure maximum sales results.
  • Stay current on industry trends, competitor activities, and market dynamics, and use this knowledge to drive informed sales strategies and tactics.


Your Qualifications & Skills:

  • A strong understanding of small to medium technology companies and possessing the ability to advise security solutions that are right-sized for these businesses
  • 7+ years experience in security and compliance, SaaS, Services and/or related fields
  • Proven ability to build and manage sales teams to hit rapidly growing business targets as an organization's primary sales leader
  • Background in developing a sales organization from $5M ARR to $50M ARR or more
  • Strong entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to recognize and capitalize on opportunities
  • Advanced proficiency with solution selling, demonstrating in-depth sales, and consulting
  • Skills, knowledge and experience leveraging industry sales methodologies such as SPIN, MEDDPICC, etc.
  • Experience in recruiting, developing and managing a sales team to achieve increasing levels of performance
  • Experience designing sales compensation plans, spiffs and other programs to incentivize desired sales focus and outcomes
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with clients, internal audiences and external partners and stakeholders
  • Strategic thinker with a customer-centric mindset and a knack for identifying and capitalizing on business opportunities
  • Experience working closely with key technology and go-to-market partners to drive joint sales objectives
  • Demonstrated ability to bring new services, solutions and partnerships to market quickly and effectively
  • A strong understanding of cybersecurity domains, including compliance, security monitoring, risk management, privacy, security technologies
  • A proven ability to manage a high volume sales team - small to mid-sized deals, short deal cycles, hundreds or thousands of monthly opportunities across a team while driving top performance and results

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with compliance standards such as SOC2, ISO, HIPAA, PCI, and others
  • Knowledge of security best practices across people, process, and technology
  • Experience with selling to technology firms, such as SaaS B2B firms, Health Tech, FinTech and related sectors
  • Experience selling across US and Canadian markets, experience in leading international teams an asset
  • Strong CRM skills, including reporting, deal and pipeline management, forecasting, with HubSpot experience an asset
  • Experience selling cybersecurity services/MRR programs into small and mid-sized clients
