Position Summary:

Position: Bus Driver

Type: Project (2-3 Months)

Schedule: 14 on / 7 off, 8 hours per day (split shift) OR 4 on / 3 off, 10 hours per day

Compensation Details:

  • Vacation pay at 6% - paid out bi-weekly upon start date

Role Summary:

As a Bus Driver at Bouchier you will be responsible for safely transporting employees and team members to and from locations within oil sand sites. This role is critical in ensuring that our workforce arrives on time, in good spirits, and ready to contribute to the success of our projects. Safety is paramount, and you will play a key role in upholding our safety standards and protocols.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Safe Transportation: Operate commercial buses in a safe and responsible manner, ensuring the well-being of passengers. Adhere strictly to traffic laws and company safety guidelines.
  • Route Planning: Plan efficient routes to pick up and drop off employees at designated locations, considering factors like traffic and weather conditions.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus, reporting any issues or needed repairs promptly. Ensure the bus is in optimal working condition.
  • Safety Compliance: Enforce safety procedures, including the use of seatbelts, and maintain an orderly and secure environment on the bus.
  • Communication: Provide clear and courteous communication to passengers, addressing any concerns or inquiries professionally.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of daily trips, mileage, and fuel consumption. Submit required reports and documentation as needed.
  • Cleanliness: Keep the bus clean and presentable both inside and out, ensuring a comfortable and hygienic environment for passengers.

Education & Experience:

  • Valid class 1 or class 2 driver's license with air brake endorsement.
  • Clean 5-year drivers abstract. Please note that a recent driver's abstract must be provided for review as a pre-qualification requirement of employment.
  • Previous experience as a commercial bus driver, particularly in an industrial or construction environment, is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of traffic laws and safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions, especially in challenging conditions.
  • Physical fitness to perform routine vehicle inspections and assist passengers when necessary.
  • All applicants must have the ability to speak, read and write fluently in English.
  • One of the following basic Safety Orientations are required:
    • CSTS09 or...
    • OSSA BSO (Basic Safety Orientation before December 31, 2018) or...
    • CSO (Common Safety Orientation after January 1, 2019)
