The Group Facilitator is responsible for facilitating group programs in the Counselling and Personal Development (CPD) department at YW Calgary. The Group Facilitator is a member of the counselling team, offering effective counselling services for the prevention and treatment of domestic violence. The Group Facilitator aligns their services with the YW Practice Framework to empower those impacted by domestic violence, abuse, and other areas of mental health.

This is an hourly position working 18.5 hours per week. Typically the schedule will be Tuesdays and Thursdays 12:30 pm - 8:30 pm and Wednesdays 5:15 pm - 8:15 pm.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Facilitate both preventative and treatment group programs that are aligned with the YW Practice Framework.
• Provide evidence-based counselling intervention to assigned target group using the most updated program curriculum.
• Provide resources, support and community referrals to clients, as needed.
• Plan and implement session without jeopardizing quality of service provided.
• Document client progress and complete administrative tasks as required.
• Use standardized format to document case notes: client participation, goals, and progress.
• Regularly monitor and document attendance.
• Apply non-violent crisis intervention and de-escalation strategies.
• Deliver programming in a variety of community settings.
• Apply knowledge of issues related to various legal/court proceedings as well as working knowledge of community resources.
• Work independently and as part of a team.
• Participate in ongoing opportunities for professional development.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING
• Master's degree in Social Work, Counselling, Clinical Psychology, or related field; registration in good standing with a professional body under the Health Professions Act.
• Assessment, crisis intervention and supportive counselling skills.
• Previous experience facilitating and co-facilitating group programs.
• Specific training in domestic violence; experience delivering evidence-based interventions.
• Knowledge of the impacts of abuse, violence, and trauma; violence and abuse recovery; crisis intervention; and problematic substance use and its intersection with mental health and traumatic stress.
• Training and experience in treatment options such as CBT, DBT, Mind/Body therapies and Mindfulness Practice, and post-modern platforms such as Solution-Focused Brief therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Strengths Based approach.
• Working knowledge of Client Management Software, the proper use of technology, including remote service delivery tools.
• Completion of ASIST and First Aid is required upon commencement of employment.
• Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle may be required for travel depending on program operations.
• A clear Police Information Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Search, and an Intervention Record Check is required upon commencement of employment.
