The Outreach Case Manager is a position that participates in the Equally Safe Domestic Conflict Response Team (DCRT/ESRT) partnership. This partnership is between the Calgary Police Services (CPS) and multiple community agencies, including YW Calgary. The Outreach CM works with families referred through the CPS and works in collaboration with a CPS Officer to provide services to families throughout the city. The Outreach CM works with all members of a family, including those who are identified as perpetrating violent behavior. The Outreach CM travels with the Officer to provide skills training, information, and referrals to families in residential and community settings. Through the delivery of this service, the Outreach CM will support families in breaking the intergenerational transmission of family violence.

This is a full-time position working Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., 37.5 hours per week with a variable schedule to best serve clients and program requirements.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Participate and proactively seeks out ongoing opportunities for professional development that related to role and are informed by best practice.
  • Coach and provide outreach services to families who have experienced domestic violence, homelessness and substance use
  • Provides case management and individualized support to encourage self-regulatory skills
  • Use a lens that is influenced by: trauma-informed care principles, feminism, and anti-oppressive practice. Assist each family member to develop age appropriate safety and impulsivity management plans.
  • Provide appropriate referrals to internal and external programs for long-term intervention, support and counseling.
  • Create and maintain professional and healthy boundaries with clients. Provide professional and ethical services to clients..
  • Maintain and adhere to CPS protocols when conducting business in partnership with the CPS officers.
  • Collaborate with community agencies regarding the family's needs and advocate when appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively and network with community service providers in Calgary in order to make linkages that support the goals of the program.
  • Motivated to grow and learn and willing to continually increase knowledge in the field of outreach case management and human services administration
  • Seeks out support of supervisor and is willing to ask questions to ensure understanding when needed.
  • Actively supports the vision and mission of the YW Calgary and attends relevant organizational meetings and events.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • A clear Police Information Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Search, and an Intervention Record Check is required upon commencement of employment.
  • Bachelor of social work or equivalent in human services field and commitment to ongoing professional development. Professional registration is a strong asset.
  • Minimum of three years' experience working in the field of family violence, outreach or case management capacity
  • Current CPR/First Aid Certification and ASSIST certification
  • Requires a class 5 driver's license and own vehicle to meet clients daily.
  • Experience and expertise working with women, children, and men who have experienced child abuse and family violence
  • You approach your work and others through the lens of equity, diversity and inclusivity.
  • Strong understanding of brain development and healthy mental function.
  • Understanding and knowledge of relevant community resources, referral processes, legislation and regulations.
  • Strong computer literacy including MS Office Suite, able to learn additional software quickly and effectively Commitment to feminist, anti-oppressive, and trauma-sensitive principles and values
