Opportunity:

As a Certificated Teacher you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the success and development of children with developmental needs. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining Individualized Program Plans (IPPs), tracking progress, connecting families with essential resources, and fostering collaboration among team members. This role requires a dedicated professional who is passionate about early childhood education, has a strong commitment to supporting children's growth and development and MUST have an Alberta teaching certificate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Individualized Program Plans (IPPs): Develop and update Individualized Program Plans for each child on the caseload, tailoring plans to address their specific developmental needs and goals.
  • Progress Monitoring: Create and update report cards and IPP's that accurately reflect each child's progress in alignment with the Kindergarten Program Statement, covering areas such as early literacy, early numeracy, creative expression, and more.
  • Family Engagement: Act as the primary contact for all team members, including parents, therapists, BDTs, Preschool and Child Care Teachers, and other stakeholders. Educate families by connecting them to relevant resources to support their child's transition to kindergarten.
  • Professional Development: Assist in planning and leading professional development sessions for team members to ensure they are up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in early childhood education.
  • School Visits: Conduct ongoing, regulator school visits in and around locations in Calgary, AB.
  • Attendance Management: Maintain accurate attendance records using the school cloud system, ensuring the timely submission of attendance data.
  • Collaboration: Ensure that Behavior Development Technicians (BDTs) are involved in early childhood education programming and that they understand and implement effective strategies.
  • IPP Coordination: Take charge of setting up meetings and working with parents to plan for goals and objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Alberta Teaching certification (required)
  • Outstanding teaching evaluations and professional letters of reference
  • Experience working with students with Learning Disabilities and/or ADHD preferred
  • Reliable transportation

Contract Date: September 2024 - June 2025 (10 month contract)

Applications are invited for a Temporary Part Time (0.5) Teacher. FB Education Services is seeking a part time generalist teacher. Knowledge/Experience with Early Childhood/Kindergarten learning, Individual program planning( IPP's), trauma-informed practices, and social emotional learning would be assets.

Work Environment Requirements:

The position involves occasional walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting/carrying work-related items weighing less than 40 pounds, such as books, papers, and presentation materials. The employee must regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, colour vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Work involves everyday risks and discomforts that require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must maintain emotional control under stress. This position may require the employee to work some evenings and weekends, including exposure to noisy and/or disruptive student behaviour. Potential exposure to bodily fluids and frequent childhood illnesses may occur.
