Salary:

A full-time position as a Reliability Engineer is available in our Maintenance and Repair Department, located in Hamilton, Ontario. The successful candidate, under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, will be primarily responsible for identifying and managing asset reliability risks, troubleshooting and resolving chronic equipment issues, providing technical support to the maintenance crew, maximizing operating reliability and meeting the needs of a continuous improvement operation.

Responsibilities:

The successful applicant must be able to perform the following tasks:

  • Perform vibration measurement and interpretation of test results, infra-red thermography and analysis of captured IR images, laser alignment and report generation, ultrasonic testing, other NDT methods like thickness measurement, dye penetrant testing, magnetic particle testing and some hands on experience of managing computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Monitor and maintain rotary equipment, steam traps, furnaces & reactors and other mechanical equipment using inspections and test data.
  • Conduct root cause failure analysis (RCFA), writing job task analysis (JTA's), work procedures, modifying existing procedures, generating reports, close surveillance of equipment performance and historical trending of data.
  • Work with vibration data collection, analysis and reporting software, Flir's Infrared camera P-60, reporting software ThermaCAM reporter 2000, Pruftehnik's Rotalign Pro and Smart RS5 shaft alignment systems, reporting software or similar equipment and software's will be of vital importance
  • Inspect, review, evaluate, and monitor plant equipment, operating conditions, operating procedures and maintenance work practices for recommended improvements.
  • Assist with special engineering projects and other project-related responsibilities as directed.
  • Troubleshoot all mechanical breakdowns and restore to full operational capability, consistent with our commitment to the timely resolution of all emergencies.
  • Recommend purchase of mechanical equipment/parts, tools and the modification of mechanical equipment and procedures, as appropriate, consistent with our commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Prepare and maintain all required mechanical reports and related documentation.
  • Perform all required tasks in a manner consistent with the needs of our internal customers and our commitment to the success of our fellow maintenance team members.
  • Working with maintenance planner to ensure preventive maintenance structure for equipment reliability.
  • Actively participate in all mechanical-related programs, consistent with ISO standards 9001, 14001 and World-Class maintenance.
  • Continuously improves self-productivity, skill, morale, team spirit, and commitment to safety, quality, and internal customer satisfaction through training, self-awareness, and personal, hands-on involvement.
  • Provide back-up and call-in services as required to meet our operational needs.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (P.Eng designation is an asset)
  • Experience in continuous process, chemical, carbon-black or cement manufacturing plant is an asset.
  • Experienced with high speed rotary and stationary equipment, non-destructive (ND) testing, on-stream and turnaround inspections, fans, blowers, pumps, gearboxes, steam turbines, bucket elevators, belt and screw conveyors, dust collectors, steam traps and piping, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce technical reports incorporating recommended improvements.
  • Strong analytical, diagnostic, problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team oriented environment.
  • Excellent organization and communication (both written and verbal) skills.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization and to adapt quickly to changing priorities.

  • Excellent computer skills: (MS Office, MS Project, SAP, etc.)
  • The following accreditations are considered assets: ND Testing Certificate, Level I or II Ultrasonic Certificate, Level I or II Vibration Analysis Certificate, Thermography Certificate, Laser Alignment Certificate, Maintenance/Inspection Certificate or their equivalent in experience and courses attended.
