Job Description

Mission

We are currently seeking skilled and experienced Power Distribution Technologist to join a dynamic team that is rapidly expanding, come innovate with us! This position is be based out of our Halifax, NS office and offers you an enriching professional environment allowing you to unlock your potential. Join a team that's shaping the electrical grid of the future. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, planning, and overseeing the construction of Electrical Power Distribution networks.

Primary Responsibilities

Overhead or underground distribution network design:

• Perform site visits to determine the nature of the work required.
• Collect/research data from geographic information system (GIS).
• Design technical specifications and prepare construction drawings.
• Prepare job estimates, bills of material & labour for customer requests.
• Circulate proposed plans for review and permit approvals.
• Coordinate schedules and deadlines, monitor and update progress.
• Liaise with customers to determine needs and negotiate issues to resolution.
• Liaise with developers and municipal officials as required.
• Respond to and/or resolve customer complaints.
• Ensure completed work adheres to engineering and construction standards.
• Prepare as-built construction drawings

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or Civil Engineering or equivalent related education and experience.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Experience in designing overhead and underground distribution lines.
• Experience in designing overhead and underground Transmission lines.
• Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, Microsoft office and other software.
• Experience with the use of PLS CADD, SPIDACalc (an asset)
• Experience in the use of GIS software (an asset)
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; French an asset
• Self-motivated, ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Working knowledge of applicable codes, regulations, and standards.
• Valid Driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.
