Nature & Scope → Your Role at Roots
Rooted in collaboration and continuous improvement, this role offers a unique opportunity to lead and support meaningful work across key areas of finance. From financial reporting and planning to control compliance and policy implementation, you’ll help bring clarity and insight to our financial operation, supporting informed decision-making and sustainable growth across the business.
Key Responsibilities → How You’ll Make an Impact
- Contribute to the preparation of quarterly and annual financial reporting for a public company, including financial statement notes, management discussion and analysis (MD&A), and accompanying schedules.
- Support the annual budgeting process and work with business teams to understand variances, providing support for any ad-hoc financial analysis.
- Assist in the month-end close process, including the preparation of key top-level journal entries.
- Support the development of presentations for senior management and the Board of Directors.
- Act as a primary liaison with external auditors, facilitating audit processes and information requests.
- Lead the execution and documentation of specific internal control compliance activities.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to identify, support, and implement financial and operational process improvements.
Qualifications & Experience → The Skills You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Actively pursuing a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
- 1–3 years of relevant experience in a public company or audit firm; experience in the retail industry is considered an asset.
- Solid understanding of financial reporting principles, with working knowledge of IFRS standards.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Self-motivated and resourceful, with a willingness to seek guidance when needed.
