Nature & Scope → Your Role at Roots

We are seeking an HR Systems Specialist (Contract) to join our team and support the ongoing management and enhancement of our Human Resources Information System (HRIS), Dayforce. This role will contribute to system maintenance, assist with updates and improvements, and help ensure data accuracy across HR platforms. While Dayforce will be the main focus, there will also be opportunities to support other HR technologies such as Lattice and Yoobic.

Key Responsibilities → How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Serve as the primary administrator and owner of Dayforce
  • Manage day-to-day system operations, including troubleshooting, configuration, user permissions, and integrations.
  • Lead system updates, testing, and implementation of new features or modules.
  • Ensure data integrity, system stability, and adherence to best practices in data hygiene and governance.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, identify opportunities for automation, and implement process improvements.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and analytics to support workforce planning and decision-making.
  • Perform regular reporting and data analysis to provide insights and support HR decision-making
  • Research and recommend new tools or enhancements to existing systems to support HR strategy and business needs.
  • Working in partnership with the head of HR and learning development manager Support the development of training content and delivery for key users of Dayforce and related systems.
  • Contribute to change management and communication efforts for HR technology initiatives.
  • Stay current with industry trends, system updates, and best practices in HR technology.
  • May occasionally also support other HR systems including Lattice, Yoobic, StoreForce, and Microsoft tools.

Qualifications & Experience → The Skills You Bring

  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in Human Resources, HRIS administration, or Information Technology.
  • Proven experience as a system administrator for a cloud-based HRIS; Dayforce experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Dayforce implementation and configuration is an asset.
  • Familiarity with other HR systems such as Lattice, Yoobic, or learning/performance management tools is a plus.
  • Dayforce certifications (e.g., Employee Central, Recruiting, Onboarding) are considered an asset.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook; experience with Power BI or other analytics tools is a strong asset.
  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Solid understanding of HR processes, policies, and data management practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
