Job Description SMT Line Technician Location: Orbitor & Matheson (Near Toronto Pearson Airport)
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Salary: $55,000 – $85,000 (Based on Experience)
Note: Client is open to considering candidates’ salary expectations.

Openings: 1 Position Overview We are seeking a skilled SMT Line Technician to support and maintain surface mount technology (SMT) production lines for PCB assembly. This role is responsible for machine setup, programming, troubleshooting, and ensuring high-quality output in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities
Machine Setup & Operation
Set up and operate SMT equipment including screen printers, SPI, pick-and-place machines, and reflow ovens
Ensure proper line setup for efficient PCB assembly
Programming
Develop, test, and debug SMT machine programs using BOM and XY data
Maintain and update machine recipes as needed
Troubleshooting & Maintenance
Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, and software issues to minimize downtime
Perform routine preventative maintenance on SMT equipment
Quality Control
Conduct first-article inspections and monitor production yield
Ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications
Process Optimization
Collaborate with engineering teams to improve efficiency and reduce scrap
Support continuous improvement initiatives
Additional Duties
Order and manage stencils
Work with BOMs and production recipes
Perform board bring-up and support AOI (Automated Optical Inspection) processes
Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Knowledge
Strong understanding of SMT processes, PCB assembly, and component identification
Basic knowledge of electronics
Experience
Hands-on experience with SMT equipment, especially pick-and-place machines
Problem-Solving Skills
Strong troubleshooting abilities across mechanical, electrical, and software systems
Education
Technical certificate, diploma, or associate degree in electronics, manufacturing, or related field preferred
Manual Dexterity
Ability to handle small components and precision tools
Standards & Compliance
Familiarity with ESD protocols, AOI systems, and quality standards
Nice to Have
Experience with SPI and AOI equipment
Exposure to high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environments
