What You'll Do:- Model our core value of safety by enabling a culture in which you are actively contributing to a safe work environment
- Develop and implement production plans with forage seed growers, developing forecasts, product placement, and seed plant cleaning guidance
- Support the supervision of daily branch and plant operations, including receiving, processing, storage, distribution, shipping, housekeeping, and customer service activities
- Lead, coordinate, and schedule staff activities to ensure operational effectiveness, productivity, and customer service excellence
- Support the management of the seed plant operation to achieve financial, operational, quality, and service objectives while balancing the needs of the Seed Division, retail business, and third-party customers
- Analyze operational processes, quality metrics, market trends, and customer requirements to identify opportunities for continuous improvement, operational efficiency, asset utilization, and business growth
- Evaluate seed quality results, provide recommendations regarding product disposition, and ensure seed products meet established quality specifications and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with Plant Management, Product Line Managers, Production teams, and other stakeholders to develop and execute processing, cleaning, inventory, logistics, shipping, receiving, and product return plans
- Coordinate import and export activities for seed products, ensuring all documentation and regulatory requirements are met
- Maintain compliance with seed regulations, industry standards, corporate policies, environmental, health and safety requirements, and quality assurance programs
- Manage inventory, warehousing, and asset utilization to ensure efficient storage, accessibility, stock accuracy, loss prevention, and effective inventory risk management
- Monitor commodity inventory price risk, industry purchases, and carrying costs to support profitability objectives
- Review third-party processing accounts and transactions to ensure accurate billing and timely payment collection
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, seed growers, suppliers, genetic providers, and other business partners to support strategic and financial objectives
- Provide guidance on product pricing, discounts, allocations, purchase orders, and logistics activities within established guidelines
- Develop and implement seed production programs, production contracts, production plans, and sales forecasts in collaboration with key stakeholders
- Lead and support strategic projects, including planning, implementation, monitoring, reporting, and stakeholder communication
- Monitor market conditions, industry trends, competitive activity, and customer needs, providing recommendations and action plans to support business objectives
- Maintain effective communication with internal stakeholders to ensure awareness of product requirements, operational priorities, and business objectives
- Represent the organization at industry events, trade shows, planning meetings, and customer engagements while promoting a positive company image and professional relationships
- Other duties as required
- 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in agri-business seed and/or other related customer service function preferred
- University degree in Agriculture, Business Administration or Commerce preferred
- Must possess a minimum Class 5 driver's license
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts
- Solid understanding of the agricultural seed business/commercial seed treating business
- Basic knowledge and understanding of ISO and AWSA requirements and procedures
- Working understanding of branch operation and equipment
- Solid knowledge and understanding of the Canadian Seed Institute and Canadian Seeds Act and Regulations
