Reporting to the Manager, Seed Accounting, the Seed Accountant will be responsible for accounting for seed operations activity. This includes monthly journal entries, data analysis, transactional research and reporting. The Seed Accountant will work closely with branch and division personnel to ensure transactions are accurate and matched with supplier reimbursements as timely as possible.

What You'll Do:
  • Month-end accruals, allocation entries, balance sheet reconciliations and P&L review for accuracy of seed transactional activity
  • Work closely with the Branch Managers and Branch personnel to ensure seed activity related to program discounts, replants and disposal of product are accounted for accurately
  • Assist Regional Finance Managers and Analysts in researching any seed transactions resulting in questionable margins or inventory levels
  • Provide clarity to retail branches on proper seed accounting procedures via phone, webinar and in person training as needed
  • Prepare, distribute and assist retail branch locations with understanding of monthly seed transactional reporting
  • Collaborate with back-office teams to ensure accurate and efficient processes for all seed related activity. Teams include but are not limited to AP, AR, Rebate Accounting, Inventory Accounting, Proprietary Accounting, Finance and IT
  • Assist in planning and implementation of SAP, Vistex Power BI, and reporting projects
  • Special projects, and other duties as assigned by Manager, Seed Accounting, or other Operations Accounting Management
  • Limited travel is possible for attendance at Regional/Divisional Meetings, visits to Branches, and attendance at training opportunities
What You'll Bring:

  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Ability to prioritize and work with competing deadlines
  • Strong verbal, written communication, strong computer (MS Office – Excel), analytical and organizational skills with a high attention to detail
  • Ability to understand and analyze issues and apply accounting standards to reflect accurate financial reporting
  • PeopleSoft and/or SAP experience a plus
  • BS/BA Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 2+ years of Accounting experience
  • Accounting designations not required
