Build the Future With Us

Bring your ecological expertise to projects that protect natural environments and support responsible development across Atlantic Canada. Based in Dartmouth, you will join our Ecology team to provide office and field-based support for environmental permitting, monitoring, and assessment projects, from focused applications to complex multidisciplinary programs. You will plan and lead ecological surveys, coordinate small to medium-sized assignments, interpret field data, and develop clear technical deliverables for clients and regulators.

Your Impact

  • Coordinate small to medium-sized environmental permitting and monitoring projects from inception to completion, including communications with clients and regulators.

  • Support experienced project managers and technical leads on complex environmental impact assessments, permitting assignments, and monitoring programs.

  • Design and implement project work plans focused on avian and terrestrial habitats, aquatics, wetlands, and species at risk.

  • Lead and support ecological field programs across Atlantic Canada, including habitat surveys, water and sediment sampling, fish and benthic sampling, botanical inventories, and wildlife assessments.

  • Analyze, evaluate, and interpret ecological data to produce high-quality technical reports, permitting applications, and environmental impact assessments.

  • Advise multidisciplinary project teams on ecology-related requirements that influence infrastructure, transportation, planning, and environmental outcomes.

  • Manage field activities with a strong focus on safe execution, reliable data collection, and compliance with WSP health and safety requirements.

  • Contribute to a collaborative Ecology team while building your project coordination, technical leadership, and client-facing experience.

The Skills That Set You Apart

  • A university degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Biology, or a related discipline, with three to five years of relevant experience conducting ecological studies.

  • Practical experience completing ecological field assessments and collecting field data for avian, wetland, wildlife, aquatic, or terrestrial programs.

  • Experience using digital field data applications, such as Survey123 or Collector, to capture and manage ecological information.

  • Strong technical writing skills and demonstrated experience preparing detailed reports and communicating effectively with clients, regulators, and colleagues.

  • Knowledge of provincial and regional legislation, policies, and permitting procedures related to aquatic and terrestrial environments.

  • Specialist ecological knowledge, including identification of one or more groups such as birds, bats, lichens, plants, or fish.

  • A valid Class 5 driver’s licence with no restrictions, access to a reliable appropriately registered and insured vehicle, and readiness to travel to remote locations, work outside standard office hours, and stay overnight when required.

  • A safety-conscious approach and experience operating in field conditions; off-road vehicle and boat-handling experience are assets.
