Our Capital Projects Group is seeking a Senior Scheduler who develops and maintains assigned capital project schedules and provides various complex planning and scheduling activities throughout the project life cycle to properly deploy resources, tightly manage schedule, maintain the integrity of the program plan, provide analysis for activity scenarios, provide corridor schedule narrative, and adhere to the financial and business processes.
Our Capital Projects Group is seeking a Senior Scheduler who develops and maintains assigned capital project schedules and provides various complex planning and scheduling activities throughout the project life cycle to properly deploy resources, tightly manage schedule, maintain the integrity of the program plan, provide analysis for activity scenarios, provide corridor schedule narrative, and adhere to the financial and business processes.
What will I be doing?
- Develop and maintain program schedules for capital projects by establishing schedule logic, critical path, float, resource requirements, interfaces, dependencies, and key milestones.
- Implement procurement strategies and delivery models, including PDB, AFP, DBB, DBF, and P3 lifecycle approaches in the schedule development process.
- Conduct schedule progress analysis, performance monitoring, and risk assessments; regularly update schedules throughout all project phases from planning through completion and close-out.
- Review, challenge, validate, and provide comments on contractor, consultant, and external stakeholder schedules to ensure compliance with project requirements, scheduling standards, and contractual obligations before incorporation into the master schedule.
- Analyze critical and near-critical paths, schedule float consumption, schedule trends, productivity impacts, delays, disruptions, and root causes; identify mitigation measures, recovery strategies, and opportunities to accelerate work completion.
- Implement schedule change management processes and integrate estimating, forecasting, and risk management strategies into project schedules.
- Prepare and maintain program-wide progress measurement and reporting systems, including progress roll-up structures, weighting methodologies, performance metrics, KPIs, and reporting calendars.
- Prepare schedule status reports, dashboards, executive presentations, and schedule narratives, and communicate project performance information to key stakeholders while maintaining confidentiality and data integrity.
- Lead schedule reviews and status assessments throughout all project phases with project teams, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Facilitate schedule integration workshops, constructability sequencing reviews, and interface coordination sessions with project teams, contractors, utilities, municipalities, and external stakeholders to identify and mitigate schedule risks and dependencies.
- Integrate multiple project schedules into program-level master schedules and identify interface risks, dependencies, sequencing conflicts, and project interrelationships.
- Work closely with project estimators, cost analysts, and project controls teams to integrate schedules with forecasts, cost management, cash flow projections, earned value management, and performance reporting.
- Provide earned value management analysis and project controls support to facilitate effective project decision-making.
- Conduct schedule health assessments, independent schedule reviews, and quality reviews to ensure compliance with organizational scheduling standards, governance requirements, industry best practices, and contractual obligations.
- Apply organizational scheduling standards, best practices, templates, and governance requirements to ensure consistency and quality of schedule deliverables.
- Provide technical support and share scheduling expertise with project teams, project controls professionals, and stakeholders on CPM scheduling methodologies and schedule analysis techniques.
- Leverage digital project controls systems and data analytics tools to enhance schedule reporting, forecasting accuracy, and project performance insights.
- Regularly assess schedule risks, analyze delays, disruptions, change orders, and root causes; identify recovery and mitigation strategies, evaluate extensions of time and acceleration requests, and support contract administration activities through schedule-based analysis of claims and dispute resolution matters.
What skills & qualifications do I need?
- Completion of university degree in engineering, business administration, information studies or related discipline or a combination of education, training, and experience deemed equivalent.
- Significant experience in planning and scheduling major capital construction, transportation, infrastructure, transit, utility, or public-sector projects, with demonstrated success managing complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives is an asset.
- Planning & Scheduling Professional (PSP) or Project Management Professional (PMP) is an asset.
- Experience developing and analyzing project schedule, procurement strategy and delivery models including PDB, AFP, DBB, DBF, P3, tender comparisons, post-bid analyses and other estimating information to facilitate effective and efficient decision-making by project leaders.
- Experience with all aspects of the Project Master Schedule (Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning Schedules) in addition to cost control and project controls in a construction environment.
- Expert in Primavera P6 is mandatory requirement.
- Experience with Acumen Fuse, or similar project controls and schedule analytics platforms, is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of the computer application Tilos is an asset.
- MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) to develop and analyze project schedules and forecasts completion schedules.
- Experience using Power BI or similar business intelligence tools for schedule analytics, dashboard development, stakeholder reporting, and project performance insights is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of rail and transit project delivery requirements, including systems integration, testing and commissioning, operational readiness, and handover processes, is considered an asset.
- Interpersonal and oral/written communication skills to liaise with project team members, external agencies, and consultants and prepare tender comparisons, post-bid analyses, and other estimating information, and to facilitates data and information sharing and between internal and external stakeholders
