Key Responsibilities

• Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions using GPS and other navigation devices to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions.
• Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy.
• Load and unload goods efficiently.
• Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials.
• Oversee the condition of the vehicle and conduct inspections on tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment.
• Perform brake adjustments and emergency roadside repairs as needed.
• Conduct pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections, overseeing all aspects of the vehicle.
• Perform preventive maintenance to ensure vehicle reliability.
• Receive and relay information to central dispatch.
• Record cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption.
• Tarp and ensure the safety and security of cargo.
• Transport and handle dangerous goods safely.

Requirements

Education

• Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

Certificates, Licences, Memberships, and Courses

• Air Brakes Endorsement
• Class 1/1F/A Licence (semi trailer trucks)

Experience

• Long-haul transportation experience preferred, but will train the right candidate.
• Permanent position with hours ranging from 50 to 60 hours per week.
