What You’ll Do

As a Long Haul Truck Driver, your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning or adjusting routes based on changing conditions using computer equipment, GPS, or other navigation devices to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions.
  • Providing exceptional customer service with professionalism.
  • Driving as part of a two-person team or convoy.
  • Loading and unloading goods with care.
  • Obtaining special permits and documents required for transporting cargo on international routes.
  • Operating and driving straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials.
  • Overseeing the condition of the vehicle and inspecting tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment.
  • Performing brake adjustments and emergency roadside repairs as needed.
  • Conducting pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections while overseeing all aspects of the vehicle.
  • Carrying out preventive maintenance to ensure vehicle reliability.
  • Receiving and relaying information to central dispatch.

What You Need

  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Experience: Will train; no prior experience necessary.
  • Certificates, Licences, Memberships, and Courses:
    • AZ class license.
    • Air Brakes Endorsement.
    • Driver's License (Class 1 or A).
