Key Responsibilities
- Read blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the layout of plumbing systems, water supply networks, and waste and drainage systems.
- Prepare tenders and quotations for plumbing projects.
- Instruct and mentor apprentices in plumbing techniques and safety practices.
- Locate and mark positions for pipe connections, passage holes, and fixtures in walls and floors.
- Cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipes and fittings.
- Join pipes using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, or soldering, brazing, and welding equipment.
- Schedule personnel, tools, and equipment for plumbing tasks.
- Test pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gauges.
- Determine piping system requirements and pipe sizing.
- Supervise a team of 3-4 workers.
- Estimate costs and materials for plumbing projects.
- Operate CADD and other computer software systems.
