Key Responsibilities

As a Long Haul Truck Driver, you will:

• Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy
• Load and unload goods
• Obtain special permits and documents for international routes
• Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
• Oversee vehicle condition and perform inspections on tires, lights, brakes, and cold storage
• Perform brake adjustments and emergency roadside repairs
• Conduct pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections
• Perform preventive maintenance on vehicles
• Communicate with central dispatch and relay information
• Record cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption
• Tarp and ensure the safety and security of cargo
• Transport and handle dangerous goods

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
• Experience: 1 to less than 7 months
• Certificates:
  • Air Brake (Z) Endorsement
  • Driver's License (Class 1 or A)
• Documentation knowledge, including accident reports, bill of lading, and driver logbook
• Experience with flatbed and straight truck (4,600kg+ or 10,000lbs+ with 3+ axles)
• Ability to operate GPS and other navigation equipment
• Willingness to travel for extended periods and overnight
