Key Responsibilities

As a Manual Machinist, you will be responsible for:

• Computing dimensions and tolerances of machine parts
• Measuring and laying out work pieces in preparation for assembly
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, charts, and tables
• Repairing machine tools and parts
• Setting up and adjusting production machinery/tools
• Fitting and assembling components and machine parts to close tolerance
• Maintaining, repairing, and calibrating precision measuring instruments

• Verifying dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments

• Experience: 3 to less than 5 years
• Certificates: Machinist Trade Certification, Machinist Red Seal Endorsement

Tools and Technology

You will be working with a variety of measuring tools and specialized machining processes:

• Measuring Tools: Micrometers, Calipers, Gauges, Verniers
• Computer Knowledge: Mastercam CAD/CAM
• Specialized Machining Processes: Ultrasonic, Plasma ARC, Laser beam, Water jet
• Equipment Experience: 3D pantographs, Automated transfer machines, Boring machines, Broaching machines, Cylindrical grinders, Drill presses, Engine lathes, Milling machines, Planers, Sawing machines, Shapers

Work Environment
