Key Responsibilities
As a Manual Machinist, you will be responsible for:
- Computing dimensions and tolerances of machine parts
- Measuring and laying out work pieces in preparation for assembly
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, charts, and tables
- Repairing machine tools and parts
- Setting up and adjusting production machinery/tools
- Fitting and assembling components and machine parts to close tolerance
- Maintaining, repairing, and calibrating precision measuring instruments
- Documenting and reporting deviations from specifications and tolerances
- Maintaining inspection records and completing inspection reports
- Verifying dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments
- Setting up and operating conventional and computer-controlled machine tools
Qualifications
- Education: Other trades certificate or diploma
- Experience: 3 to less than 5 years
- Certificates: Machinist Trade Certification, Machinist Red Seal Endorsement
Tools and Technology
You will be working with a variety of measuring tools and specialized machining processes:
- Measuring Tools: Micrometers, Calipers, Gauges, Verniers
- Computer Knowledge: Mastercam CAD/CAM
- Specialized Machining Processes: Ultrasonic, Plasma ARC, Laser beam, Water jet
- Equipment Experience: 3D pantographs, Automated transfer machines, Boring machines, Broaching machines, Cylindrical grinders, Drill presses, Engine lathes, Milling machines, Planers, Sawing machines, Shapers
Work Environment
This role requires:
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
