Position Summary
FMi Logistics is seeking an experienced Freight Broker who understands today's transportation market and thrives in a fast-paced brokerage environment.
This is not an entry-level logistics role.
We are looking for a transportation professional with proven freight brokerage experience who can confidently negotiate with carriers, build transportation solutions, manage customer relationships, and maximize profitability while delivering exceptional service. The successful candidate understands freight market fluctuations, carrier capacity, pricing strategies, and how to secure the right equipment at the right price while protecting margins and exceeding customer expectations.
Primary Responsibilities
Ø Source and secure carrier capacity for Truckload, LTL, Rail Intermodal, and specialized freight. Ø Build competitive transportation solutions for customers while maximizing profitability. Ø Negotiate daily spot market pricing and contract rates with carriers. Ø Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers and carrier partners. Ø Manage freight from pickup through final delivery while proactively communicating shipment status. Ø Monitor transportation markets, capacity trends, and pricing conditions. Ø Resolve service issues quickly while protecting the customer experience. Ø Grow existing customer accounts through relationship management and identifying new opportunities. Ø Work closely with Sales to support customer growth initiatives. Ø Utilize load boards, TMS systems and market intelligence tools to secure freight efficiently. Ø Ensure shipments comply with customer requirements, company procedures, and regulatory standards. Ø Collaborate with Operations, Carrier Services and Management to continuously improve brokerage performance. What We're Looking For
Required Experience
Ø 2–5+ years of freight brokerage experience. Ø Proven success negotiating truckload freight. Ø Strong understanding of Canadian and U.S. transportation markets. Ø Experience sourcing carrier capacity across multiple equipment types. Ø Experience managing both spot market and contracted freight.Ø Knowledge of carrier pricing models and freight economics.

Preferred Qualifications
Ø Experience with Rose Rocket or comparable TMS. Ø Experience using DAT, Loadlink or similar freight matching platforms. Ø Knowledge of Canadian and U.S. transportation regulations. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Ø Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Ø Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
