This role will provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 IT support for all offices with escalation of complex issues to the Operations Lead and Senior IT Administrator as required.

About the RoleWorking closely with the Operations Lead and Senior IT Administrator, the IT Support Specialist will be an active member of the Operations team, with responsibility for tasks in the following areas:
- Provide day‑to‑day in‑person and/or remote end‑user IT support for the Vancouver, Victoria, Calgary, and Squamish offices and remote staff
- Provide frontline IT support to staff by troubleshooting technical issues and responding to helpdesk ticket service requests in accordance with internal service response expectations
- Install firmware updates and performance/security patches on Windows servers and workstations
- Configure new and replacement Windows laptops, workstations, and test servers
- Set up and maintain Microsoft Office 365/Azure environment, Windows Active Directory (AD), Entra ID, and cloud file share accounts
- Support user lifecycle management (new hires, internal moves, and exits), including account provisioning, access changes, and decommissioning
- Monitor data backups using Backup Exec and Altaro, including supporting restore testing and issue remediation
- Create, maintain, and back up VMware virtual machines
- Set up and troubleshoot LAN, WAN, Wi‑Fi, and VPN connectivity
- Install and update specialized and company‑licensed applications and software on servers and staff workstations/laptops
- Assist with server, workstation, and network disaster‑recovery tasks
- Update and maintain IT documentation, including manuals, standard operating procedures, knowledge‑base articles, and inventories
- Assist with the administration and day‑to‑day management of the organization’s firewall and network security systems
- Create, modify, and document firewall rules to support business applications and user access requests
- Work with senior IT staff to implement security best practices, updates, and firmware upgrades
- Support VPN configuration and basic troubleshooting for hybrid and remote users
- Support endpoint management and configuration
- Support endpoint security (e.g., antivirus), patch compliance, and basic security‑incident response activities
- Work proactively with the Operations team to implement forward‑looking IT projects aimed at increasing IT resiliency, performance, and availability
- Assist with SaaS application support, licensing, and troubleshooting (e.g., Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive)
- Support the deployment and responsible use of approved AI‑enabled productivity tools in accordance with company policies
- Identify opportunities for automation or scripting to improve IT support efficiency
- Participate in occasional after‑hours or maintenance activities as required
- Other duties as may reasonably be assigned
- Efficient and effective implementation of all of the above, undertaken in a professional, courteous, and respectful manner
QualificationsCore QualificationsIn addition to experience with the above responsibilities, the qualifications for the position include:
- 3–5 years of demonstrated experience in a similar position
- Proficient in configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Windows Server operating systems, including server roles
- Proficient in configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Windows 11 operating systems
- Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and cloud‑based systems
- Proven experience in management of IP networking (LANs, WANs, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, etc.)
- Knowledgeable in VMware Hypervisor, vSphere, vMotion, and Windows Active Directory
- Experienced with on-premise storage architectures and file sharing
- Experienced with Microsoft Office 365/Azure administration
- Experienced with managing Wi‑Fi and wireless technologies
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Effective interpersonal skills and a positive, professional attitude
- Able to effectively deal with a high level of responsibility and demanding work environments
- Shows a strong drive to grow both personally and professionally through ongoing learning
- Maintains a high level of professionalism and composure when supporting users, responding to technical issues with patience, clear communication, and sound judgment in fast‑paced or high‑pressure situations
- Demonstrated willingness to document, share knowledge, and collaborate with IT and Operations team members
- Must hold a valid Class 5 British Columbia driver's licence or unrestricted Canadian provincial driver's licence

Desirable QualificationsBeyond the core skills, there are particular qualifications that will set you apart. The successful candidate will likely have most or all of the following qualifications:
- Experienced with Microsoft Intune, including device management, operating system (OS) deployment, and application deployment
- Experienced with Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA), using command line and Cisco Adaptive Security Device Manager (ASDM)
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft 365 Administrator, Azure certifications, CCNA) are considered an asset
While relevant experience is certainly an asset, we are far more interested in finding the right person and are willing to train.
CompensationThe range of compensation for this position is $64,000 to $85,000.
This salary range is provided specifically for compliance to provincial legislation. The actual salary will depend on the skills, experience, and capabilities of the successful candidate relative to the role and may or may not land within the range specified above.
