Foreperson, Local to Fort McMurrary

Who We Are Kichton Construction LP is the Fort McMurray-based Heavy Civil entity within the Kichton Group of Companies which has been operating since 1963. Kichton Construction LP commenced operations in 2019 as the industrial division of the Kichton Group to serve the Energy and Mining Industries throughout North America. Since inception, KCLP has grown sustainably and exponentially, starting with 30 experienced team members in 2019, to now over 400 team members and over 300 pieces of heavy equipment. KCLP is proud to continue operating alongside our Community Partner, the Chipewyan Prairie First Nation, as part of our NOHA/Kichton Joint-Venture. The Role We are looking for experienced Forepersons to join us at the Syncrude MLX project, Mildred Lake, which is about 45 km north of Fort McMurray, AB. This role reports into the Foreman. This is non-camp work with bussing back and forth to the site so applicants must be local to Fort McMurray. Location/Project Details· Syncrude, Mildred Lake.· Two-month project. · 12-hour days (paid for 11.5 hours). 14 days on, 7 off. Days and Nights.· No accommodations, locals only.· Busing provided from town to site. Compensation/Benefits

• $45-47 per hour.
• Overtime after 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week, whichever is greater.
• 9.6% vacation and stat holiday pay on all regular hours.
• Potential opportunities for work on other sites after project is over.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily field operations in an active oil sands mining environment.
• Lead crews of operators, laborers, and support personnel while promoting a strong safety culture.
• Plan and oversee excavation, grading, trenching, sloping, reclamation, hauling, and general heavy civi activities.
• Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to project specifications and schedules.
• Monitor productivity, manpower, equipment utilization, and work quality.
• Conduct daily toolbox meetings, hazard assessments, FLRAs, and safety inspections.
• Ensure all crew members comply with company policies, client requirements, and OH&S regulations.
• Coordinate with project management, dispatch, maintenance, and client representatives.
• Read and interpret site drawings, grade stakes, work plans, and schedules.
• Identify and resolve operational issues, site hazards, and productivity concerns.
• Mentor and support crew development, training, and performance management.
• Complete daily reports, shift summaries, incident documentation, and operational paperwork.
• Ensure proper housekeeping and organization of work areas and equipment.
• Support incident investigations and corrective action implementation when required.
• Promote teamwork, accountability, and operational excellence on site.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Minimum 5+ years of supervisory experience in mining, heavy civil construction, or oil sands environments required.
• Previous experience supervising crews in an active mine setting is strongly preferred.
• OSSA/BSO/CSO required.
• Hydrogen Sulfide Awareness or H2S Alive, Silica Awareness, OH&S Legislation Awareness, Wood Buffalo Wildlife Awareness, and Field Ergonomics required (can be completed through Energy Safety Canada online).
• Suncor Workday Training required: SRMWB Safety Orientation, OSSA Driving in the Mine, SCL Mine Job Orientation
• Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) required.
• WHMIS certification required.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, overtime, and site schedules.
• Experience with daily reporting, planning and crew coordination.

Working Conditions

• Work performed in active mining, construction, and oil sands environments.
• Exposure to dust, mud, noise, vibration, and extreme weather conditions.
• Long shifts including both day and night rotations.
• Overtime and extended rotations may be required depending on project needs.
• Experience working in soft ground and around water is considered an asset.
