We are looking for a Human Resources/Health & Safety Intern (Summer 2024) to join our HR and H&S Team in Mississauga. This role will assist the HR and H&S function with administrative support and HR/H&S-related tasks and will run from May 6, 2024 through to August 30, 2024.

Responsibilities:

Human Resources

• Organize and maintain records and documentation related to employee files, disciplinary records, training, etc.
• Provide support throughout the recruitment process.
• Assist with new hire onboarding and orientation.
• Assist with organizing and coordinating employee events/activities.
• Assist with the administration of employee total rewards.
• Participate in HR meetings and take meeting notes.
• Assist with HR projects and initiatives as appropriate.

Health & Safety

• Organize and maintain records and documentation related to safety protocols, incidents, and training.
• Conduct routine safety inspections and assessments of the workplace to identify potential hazards and safety violations.
• Collect and analyze data related to safety incidents, near misses, and safety compliance, including environmental safety metrics.
• Participate in incident investigations and root cause identifications.
• Complete and maintain Physical Demands Analysis and Job Hazard Analysis for various jobs.
• Participate in activities that promote a culture of safety within the organization.

• Currently enrolled or recent graduate of a Human Resources Management (preferred) or Health & Safety college or university program
• Proficiency in Google Suite (Gmail, Sheets, Docs etc.)
• Team player with optimal interpersonal skills
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
• Detail-oriented with excellent administrative and organizational skills
• Professional attitude and demeanour
• Previous internship or work experience in the HR field is considered an asset
• Previous experience in a manufacturing plant would be beneficial as putting on personal protective equipment and safety shoes while spending time in the plant will be required.
