JOB DESCRIPTION

Cavendish Farms is looking for a knowledgeable and collaborative Health, Safety & Environment Sr. Specialist to support our Canadian farming operations across New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island.
Reporting to the Manager, Health, Safety & Environment, you will lead and support safety programs, facilitate employee training, conduct workplace inspections and risk assessments, investigate incidents, and maintain accurate documentation. You will work closely with operational leaders and employees to help prevent workplace injuries and support a safe, respectful, and compliant working environment.
Work Location: New Annan, PE.
Salary Range: $65,000 - $85,000

RESPONSIBILITIES
As the Health, Safety & Environment Specialist, you will:

  • Lead the review, revision, and implementation of health and safety policies, programs, and initiatives.
  • Support compliance with applicable provincial and company health and safety requirements.
  • Facilitate workplace safety training and employee onboarding.
  • Ensure training and safety records are properly documented in MyLearn and other required systems.
  • Conduct workplace inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
  • Investigate reported hazards, observations, near misses, accidents, injuries, and safety violations.
  • Conduct root cause analyses and identify appropriate corrective actions.
  • Monitor and support the completion of corrective actions.
  • Participate in additional health and safety activities, including the Safety Summit and other company initiatives.
  • Work with managers, supervisors, directors, hourly employees, and seasonal employees to strengthen health and safety practices.
  • Identify opportunities to adapt and improve existing safety processes.
  • Support compliance with operational regulatory, food safety, and Good Manufacturing Practice requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of experience in health and safety with strong preference to those with manufacturing, food processing, or agriculture background
  • Professional certification such as NCSO, CRST or CRSP
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and workplace safety practices.
  • Experience delivering safety training, conducting audits and risk assessments, and investigating workplace incidents.
  • Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and record-keeping skills.
  • Collaborative and proactive approach with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Ability to travel as required and work in environments involving walking, standing, lifting, and sitting.
