JOB DESCRIPTION
The Manager, Detail Design is a people‑leadership role accountable for managing Fleetway's drawing extraction scope through effective leadership, resourcing, and oversight of delivery teams. This role owns how work is scoped, organized, and assigned, ensuring the right people with the right capabilities are positioned to deliver high‑quality technical outputs.
This role provides direct leadership to Supervisors and their teams, balancing workload, addressing capacity and capability gaps, and supporting performance through coaching and mentoring. The Manager, Detail Design ensures teams clearly understand scope, priorities, and expectations, and works closely with internal stakeholders and the customer to manage scope clarification and change as required.
Quality delivery is achieved through strong people leadership supported by well‑defined processes. The role is accountable for embedding appropriate quality practices, ensuring standards are applied consistently, and that outputs are reviewed and accepted against defined requirements. Through effective scope control, resourcing, and team leadership, the Manager, Detail Design ensures compliant, reliable, and fit‑for‑purpose drawing extraction outcomes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide leadership and oversight of drawing extraction activities, managing resourcing and work allocation across delivery teams to meet agreed Fleetway and customer scope, quality expectations, and delivery commitments.
  • Lead and support Supervisors and teams through effective coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Balance workload and capacity, proactively identifying and addressing capability or resourcing gaps.
  • Monitor program progress and performance against project requirements, providing internal and external performance reporting to senior management and the customer.
  • Support all customer‑required earned value reporting.
  • Ensure drawing extraction outputs are reviewed, compliant, and accepted against defined technical, quality, and customer standards.
  • Integrate and continuously improve drawing extraction processes across multiple stakeholders to achieve an optimal balance of quality and schedule performance.
  • Manage scope clarification and changes in collaboration with internal stakeholders and the customer. Build strong working relationships with customers, subcontractors, and internal teams, fostering a "one team" approach across organizational and functional boundaries.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education

  • Degree in Engineering or a Diploma in Engineering Technology.

Experience

  • A minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible experience in an engineering, technical, or production environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in people leadership, resourcing, and delivery oversight.
  • Strong understanding of technical documentation, quality standards, and structured delivery environments.
  • Ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including customers and subcontractors.

This is a full‑time, on‑site position.
